This caused increased demand for munitions, and so Ammo Manfacturers Ltd., a company formed to meet this need, was founded in 1876. Ammunition production continued at this company until 1958 when it stopped operations due to competition from lower priced rivals from out of state.

Bethel Park is located in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania, about 25 miles east of Philadelphia. The population was 7,500 at the 2010 census. The town has a rich history dating back to the early 1800s. Bethel Park was named for Saint Elisabeth of Hungary, who was martyred there in 1814. After her death, her relics were brought to Bethel and eventually interred there within the church complex that still stands today. In 1881, Bethel Park became a separate municipality and retains its own government today with a Mayor and six council members. The first settler in what is now Bethel Park were two families from Lebanon County who arrived in 1799. They built their house on Third Street near present-day Market Square. By 1802, the family had moved to their current location on State Road 9 north of Central Avenue. That year they also erected a small wooden chapel which served as their religious center until it burned down in 1865. In 1806, John Wirth founded Wernersville Township which included present day Bethel Park along with nearby Spring Garden Township and parts of Huntingdon Township (now Easton). Wernersville became an incorporated village in 1824 after voters approved a petition by Township Clerk Amos Hickey to establish such a township under Pennsylvania law then being amended by the General Assembly at that time (2nd Session). In 1827 Isaac Sargent purchased 2 acres south ofpresent-day Market Square from David Halliday for $10 per acre – this land later served as home field for both Penn State football teams during Beaver Stadium’s initial development beginning in 1937 (& through 1972 when Loyola University New Orleans took over operations) In 1830 Samuel Morse bought 8 acres west of present day Market Square from John Brown for $50 per acre – this land would later become part of Penn State’s College Football Stadium . This purchase indicates thatBethel Park had long been an important community within PennState . Samuel Morse also donated some land east of Market Square which served as Beaver Stadium’s north end zone starting before 1938 (& through1972 when Loyola University New Orleans took over operations) ..... Other early settlers include: George Herron (1822), Nicholas Singer (1825), Peter Dickinson (1827), Job Davenport & his wife Martha Davenport(1829), James Kappeler (1830), Solomon Payson & his wife Sarah Payson(1832-33), David Gunnison (1834-35) , John Fenton & his wife Rebecca Fenton(36-37).
