The Altoona Shooting Protection League (ASPL) was formed in 1966 to provide shooting safety advice and training for the community. The league offers members a range of resources, including safety equipment rentals, shooting contests and clinics, as well as support from its staff. Since our formation, the ASPL has worked to improve the shooting environment for both shooters and non-shooters by developing programs such as muzzleloader safety tips and NRA Safety Tips for Rifle/Shotgun Shooters. Our goal is to make sure everyone in Altoona can enjoy safe firearm use by sharing information about firearms and protecting ourselves from harm.

There are many different types of shooting protection available on the market, but the most popular type is armor piercing ammunition. Armor piercing ammunition is designed to penetrate armor that may be present in targets. It can also damage unprotected areas such as vital organs if fired into them. This type of ammunition is often used in hunting and target shootings, where penetration is not a priority. There are several different types of shooting protectors available on the market. One common type is face shields. Face shields provide excellent ballistic protection against projectiles that may enter through an opening adjacent to the face, such as the mouth or nose. The Altoona Police Department has a history of providing shooting protection to their officers. In 1990, the department partnered with the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office to provide police officers in that county with shooting protection devices such as shields and helmets. Since then, the department has continued to partner with other law enforcement agencies throughout Pennsylvania in order to provide this type of service.

Some of the earliest forms of shooting protection were simple devices such as shields or helmets that could be worn on the head. Firearms began to become popular in Europe after gunpowder was invented in 1551. soon afterwards, firearms became an important part of military life, and protective measures began to be put into place to protect people from gunshot injuries. In 1836, Australia placed restrictions on the sale and use of firearms, fearing that they would be used to kill innocent people. This led to a number of accidents involving guns being fired accidentally, which made it necessary for authorities to come up with new ways to protect those who wanted access to them. One such system was the so-called “Black Country Scheme” which aimed to keep black men from owning firearms and using them against white people. The scheme proved successful and was eventually repealed in 1868. Since then, there have been various attempts at designing improved shooting protection systems – some successes (like Australia’s Black Country Scheme), while others (like America’s standard magazine safety) have still not caught on entirely with the public. A few notable exceptions include China’s draconian “three points law” which requires all citizens aged 12 years or older must possess a valid hunting license and carry around three rounds of ammunition at all times; India putting up signs throughout major cities warning pedestrians about stray bullets; Russia outlawing assault rifles in 1993; South Africa imposing bans on certain types of shotguns until 2021; Germany banning lead ammunition in 1934; Japan introducing bullet-resistant glass ceilings for police officers in 2011; Canada requiring gun ownersMagazineSafe storage containers with trigger locks for their handguns by 2019). However, despite these efforts there are still numerous shootings every year where someone is injured or killed as a result of gunfire – something that should never be taken lightly!
