Aliquippa is a town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh- Allegheny- Youngstown Metropolitan Statistical Area. The old Aliquippa Arsenal was built in 1794 and closed by 1860 because of financial problems. In 1881, Aliquippa became a town and when that happened all the guns from the Arsenal were given to the town and they used them for target shooting. There are presently three Shooting Grounds in Aliquippa: one located on Main Street near the high school; one off of US 19 west of downtown; and one on South Park Avenue just east ofSR 15 (formerly Elmira Rd). Aliquippa has had two rifle ranges open since 1907: The first opened on North Third Street across from Township Hall while the second opened on Beaver Road about two miles south off I-71 just east of SR 724 (now Kelly Rd). This range later became known as "The Rifle Range" which continues to operate today with assistance from PTRG (Paddock Recreation Authority) . All three shooting grounds offer Trap, Skeet, Pistol & Shotgun range experience to visitors including NRA memberships available for an additional fee A rifle range reopened in 2009 located on South Park Avenue behind PTRG which offers Trap/Skeet/Pistol/Shotgun experience with an accompanying membership program for those who wish to participate

The name Aliquippa means "place where you can find apples." Early settlers named the town after two nearby bodies of water, Aliquippa Creek and Monongahela River. In 1814, George Washington purchased land in what is now Aliquippa Township from John Armstrong for $1,000. During World War II, many Aliquippan men served in the military or were drafted into the war effort. Many businesses that are still in operation today were established during this time: clothing store J.C. Penney (now Macy's), shoe store Marshall Field & Co., grocery store Grocery Outlet Inc., printing press Pennsylania Rubber Company and post office Old Post Office Building on High Street are some of those still in business today. In 1951, Aliquippa Township became a part of Pittsburgh suburb Homestead-Lambertown when that township was merged with Pittsburg Borough to form Homestead-Pittsburgh City Corporation. In 1990, Pittsburgh city annexed most of Homestead-Lambertown as well as parts of North Side and South Side boroughs to form the new city of Pittsburgh; all but Aliquippa Township became part of Allegheny County within that new city limits. That same year saw an important development intown when Coca Colas company built a large bottling plant on Market Street which has since been replaced by several smaller plants including one by PepsiCo operations located next to PNC Park - making it one of the largestCola bottling plants west of Philadelphia! The old plant site is now home to several small businesses such as Andy's Pizza Parlor and Joe's Crab Shack remnants from that era

Aliquippa was first settled in 1736 by German immigrants and their families. The community name means "swampy place." The first store in Aliquippa opened in 1825 and was located on the banks of the Monongahela River. In 1859, a post office was established here and remained in operation until 1969. Aliquippa is known for its agricultural products such as corn, soybeans, apples, potatoes, fruits and vegetables. Some of these crops are made into feed for animals or used to generate power for local businesses. The town also manufactures goods such as air filters and home insulation materials. In recent years, Aliquippa has experienced growth due to job opportunities associated with the steel industry and others related fields. The town now boasts a number of small businesses that offer services such as plumbing, carpentry and lawn care; these businesses have helped support increased hiring within the local community since 2000 alone! Additionally, Aliquippa offers many cultural attractions including an annual arts festival which features music from around the world; art exhibits during winter months; unique shopping experiences available during summertime;and monthly farmers markets that offer fresh produce from local farms
Aliquippa was founded in 1795 by Hugh Penn and his family. The original settlers were farmers who lived on the Susquehanna River near Aliquippa. Penn negotiated a land deal with the Lenape people and built a home here. He started a tannery, which became one of the largest in Pennsylvania. In 1814, Aliquippa was renamed for General James Hays when he became general commanding United States forces in West Virginia during the War of 1812.
