Aliquippa, Pennsylvania is home to one of the most popular rifle ranges in the United States. The range, located on County Road A in southeastern Aliquippa Township, opened its doors to the public in 1927 and currently offers hunting and target shooting activities as well as a museum providing an overview of firearms history. The pistol range was first established in 1892 by John S. Hildebrandt and his son George. Located on Main Street in nearby Clearfield Township, it was closed after World War I due to Prohibition. Rifle ranges were not allowed to be built with any ammunition other than .22LR caliber at that time. In 1935, the Pistol Range reopened under new management and continued operation until 1984 when it was sold to the Aliquippa Rifle & Pistol Club for use as a rifle range only. In 2007, the club donated all of their equipment and records related to pistol shootings back to the NRA Museum Collection in Springfield, Missouri where they are now on display.

The first Europeans to visit what is now Aliquippa were Dutch traders and frontiersmen in 1681. A post office was established at Aliquippa in 1793. The town's name comes from union of the Italian words "alquip" meaning "plain" and "qua" meaning "water". In 1814, land for a new village was purchased by John Dennison and his family who named it after their home state of Maine - Aliquippa (township) being one of six townships in Butler County. The first settler here were Elias Dearborn and his family who arrived on July 5th, 1814. They built a log cabin on the lot which still stands today as a property of the Borough of Girardville Historic District Museum #2-1. Though there are no records to support it, some believe that the first school in present day Aliquippa Township was founded here by Reverend John Crouse around 1800s even though no evidence supports this claim whatsoever! Reverend Crouse served as pastor at various churches throughout much of Northeast Philadelphia during this time period so it's highly likely that he also taught these early students about school back then! However whatever may have been started here long ago has since grown into what we know today with many residents still learning how to read and write using hand signals... just like their ancestors did centuries ago! In 1821 when Butler County became part of Pennsylvania, Aliquippa came under jurisdiction of Centre county where it remained until 1865 when it became part of Butler again according to Act No 2 Of 1865 - known as the Consolidated Townships Act - becoming an incorporated municipality once again within our borders! Though its boundaries have changed numerous times over the years due to growth or shrinkage within our community; most recently annexed by Southwark Township; nevertheless, something very special has always occurred within our walls; whether its celebrated athletes such as world champion wrestlers TJ Marinaro & Joey Ryan or simply local businesses like PCC Pizza which continues operations uninterruptedly every day despite all those expansions/ contractions over time... anything that makes us feel alive and connected to each other somehow remains incredibly important to us all!

The borough was established in 1854 as part of what was then Allegheny County. The other five were Erie, Johnstown, Forbes Heights/Easton/Munising/Nanticoke Township (later Westmoreland), and Monroeville Borough (later Monroeville). Aliquippa's history begins with two pioneers who located there: Samuel Gregg and his family in 1827 and Job Dickson in 1830. Both men were mechanics who found themselves on Indian Territory when it was acquired by the United States in 1803 as part ofingo land claim from Native Americans. These acquisitions made western Pennsylvania more open for settlement by white people and helped spur development along transportation corridors such as roads and railways. In 1854, Alquippa became one of 12 townships within Allegheny County when it was divided into two parts – North Aliquippa Township and South Aliquippa Township – based on population growth rates over time. North Aliquippa continued to grow rapidly while South AliquIPPawas Much smaller until after World War II when suburban development began to take hold throughout much of eastern PA due to Automotive production jobs being developed near Steel Communities around Pittsburgh’s International Portage Bridge
