In the early 1800s, there were few guns in Woodburn. Gathered around the town's courthouse, these guns were used for hunting and protection from Indians. The first gun in Woodburn was a muzzleloader made by David Wilkinson in 1792. It was used to shoot deer and other game. In 1827, John Hargrave built a rifle shop in Woodburn and began manufacturing firearms. In 1854, Oregon became a state and gun control legislation passed statewide. The Gun Act of 1854 required all firearms to be registered with the state government. This created a backlog of registrations which caused much inconvenience for citizens. In 1865, Wm Fenton built a rifle range in town which served as an important training ground for local militia forces during the American Civil War. He also started manufacturing rifles at his factory until his death in 1875.

However, it reopened a few years later under new ownership with a focus on antique firearms. The store continued serving as a local source for antique firearms until it closed in 1990.
Woodburn is a town in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States. The population was 5,914 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland metropolitan area. Woodburn was founded in 1876 by farmers and ranch hands who built a small community on the banks of the Willamette River. The town grew rapidly during the early years of World War II as soldiers garrisoned the nearby military base and local businesses became associated with war production. After the war, Woodburn experienced a decline in population and economic growth until the arrival of new developers in the late 1990s revived its economy. Today, Woodburn is an affluent suburb of Portland with wide arterial streets and large homes for sale.

This pistol was used by American soldiers during World War I and World War II before being replaced by pistols such as Smith & Wesson’s Model 1911 pistol which had an 8 round clip and was used by police officers and other law enforcement officers around the world until it was retired in 1994. The Glock model 9 is possibly one of grandfathers of all handguns because it was designed in1993 by Oliver Saks, who also invented sunglasses, contact lens technology, airbags, and digital watches (among many other products). Glock pistols are now produced worldwide by Glocks Inc., based out of Springfield, Missouri
The first firearms were made in China in the 6th century AD. Indian gunsmiths started manufacturing firearms in the 16th century BC. The Portuguese began making firearms in the 15th century AD. Firearms became available to Europeans during the 17th and 18th centuries, with Englishmen becoming the first to use them in combat during the American Revolution. The Dutch also used firearms extensively during their colonization of New Holland.
In 1879, Oregon Territorial Governor John C. Fremont issued a proclamation creating the town of Woodburn on the eastern edge of the new state. The town was named after James G. Woodburn, who had donated land for its establishment. The first settler in Woodburn was Julius Fenton, who arrived in October 1879. Woodburn developed as a small timber and agricultural center due to its location on the main east-west wagon road connecting Oregon City and Portland. In 1905, violence between logging companies and farmers led to the relocation of many of the town's residents to nearby Beaverton. However, much of Woodburn's original commercial district remains extant today including several blocks of State Street between Third Avenue and Fifth Avenue which are now home to several businesses including Bed Bath & Beyond, Starbucks, and Home Depot. The townships that make up present-day Forest Grove and Willamette Valley were organized in 1909 by then-Governor Eugene McCarthy with assistance from General George Hillsteads US Cavalry Corps (GHolland). The resulting forested areas made it difficult for logging companies to reach vital lumberjacks located within what is now Oregon City; this led to numerous conflicts betweentimber interests and early settlement leaders over control over local resources. After World War II, increased population growth in western Oregon led to calls for more open space; this prompted governor Neil Hebert in 1949 to initiate plans for an expressway through downtown Portland linking Salem with Eugene via Interstate 5. This project would have destroyed much of downtown Portland but ultimately failed due to financialasuccessful resistance by Mayor Harry Seibert (a Democrat). In 1957, Hebert announced his intention to annex most of Beaverton into Woodburn; this proposal met stiff opposition from local citizens who felt their community bequeathed its natural features should remain separate
The first European to set foot on the Oregon Trail was Captain John C. Wright in 1847. The wagon road from the east coast of Mexico City to the California gold fields reached its peak of popularity during the mid-19th century, but it fell out of favor by the end of that decade. In 1865, Ulysses S. Grant began construction on a new railroad through central Oregon and Wyoming, which increased traffic along the trail. The rail line led to an increase in logging and ranching activity in eastern Oregon, including Woodburn, which began becoming known as a center for agriculture and ranching around 1870.
