In 2000, Woodburn annexed nearby Mount Vernon to form a new city government; Mount Vernon has since grown to nearly 100 residents and its municipal services have also been integrated into Woodburn's public school system. Today, Woodburn remains an idyllic small town that offers quality local experiences including hiking and fishing along its wide streets and waterways; biking or walking to most local businesses; dining at local restaurants or having coffee from locally roasted beans; playing golf on beautiful courses within close proximity to downtown; watching professional football games from their seats in one of several stadiums within easy reach (the largest being home to CenturyLink Field); or simply spending time outside enjoying nature while surrounded by friendly people who care about their community
