In 1928, Eugene H. Wilson founded the Wilsonville Electric Company in Wilsonville, Oregon. The company manufactured high capacity batteries and starter packs for electric vehicles. In 1937, the company moved to its present location and began making battery systems for trucks and buses. In 1961, the company merged with Pacific Northwest Battery Corporation to become Pacific Northwest Battery & Starter Systems Inc. In 1984, the company was renamed Pacific Northwest Batteries Inc., and in 1990 it merged with Ciba-Geigy Corporation to form Ciba-Geigy/Pacific Northwest Batteries Inc. Today, Ciba-Geigy/Pacific Northwest Batteries is a subsidiary of Dow Chemicals Company. Wilsonville Electric Company was founded in 1928 by Eugene H. At that time PNB&STS was headquartered in Grand Rapids MI while GEI was located in Buffalo NY which operate under a single name until 1984 when they were separately spun off into two companies again with GEI now headquartered back home across river from where they started) During World War II service members were rationed on specific types of batteries so Eugene H Wilson decided to produce his own type of battery that could be used by both military personnel during war time as well as civilian motorists who needed backup power while travelling without running out of juice or equipment! This new type of battery became popularized by Eugene HWilson himself who marketed them nationally until he sold them all out within a few years! After selling his original product line Mr.Wilson went onto start his own business—Eugene High CapacityBATTERIES INC.—which continued making these same high capacity BATTERIES until he passed away in 1978 at the age of 82! In 1870, Jethro Gibbs established a lumbering business at Wilsonville after coming to Oregon from Idaho via wagon train. He used local timber for building his mill which still stands today; it made heavy loadings of lumber for export to China and Japan until World War II when it was destroyed by fire). In 1903, Mayor James Sneath set up an electric light company here which served town until 1934 when power was turned off because of concerns about Japanese spying activities in Wilsonville (at that time Portland had more telephone lines than any other city). It has experienced many changes over the years, including becoming a bedroom community forPortland; hosting several major music festivals; and becoming a center for renewable energy research.
