Wilsonville is a small town in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. It is located about 25 miles northwest ofPortland and about 60 miles northeast of Salem. The population was 1,818 at the 2010 census. The first people to live in what is now Wilsonville were the Washougal tribe who settled here around 1810. The first house in town was built by Capt. Jonathan Wright in 1859. As word spread about this new town, other settlers began to arrive, and by 1865 there were over 100 people living in Wilsonville. By 1870, the town had become an important center for agricultural production and local trade. In 1907, Wilsonville became the site of one of the most significant events in its history when Walter Pyle came to visit and document America’s Northwest Passage route from Siberia to Alaska through Oregon. This event helped make Wilsonville a popular tourist destination and helped spur economic development hereabouts. After World War II, Wilsonville experienced rapid growth as thousands of soldiers returning home brought their families hereto live and work on local farms after leaving military service overseas or joining industry during the war years while they waited for their turn at citizenship or equal treatment under American law (i.e., because many veterans were not given GI benefits). In 1969, Johnston Park was established as part of efforts to increase access to downtown Wilsonville by improving public transportation options; it remains one of the few park areas open to all visitors today despite being almost 15 years old! Today, Wilsonville remains an important cultural and social center within its community with a rich history dating back more than 125 years! Its residents are proud participants in local businesses, schools and churches that support traditional values and culture which has made this community one of distinction within its region!

During the 1960s and 1970s, Wilsonville experienced a period of growth due to its role as an agricultural center. Many businesses closed during this time, but new ones sprang up to take their place. In the 1990s and 2000s, however, Wilsonville has lost much of its business activity due to shifted focus towards central Oregon instead of eastside Wilsonville.
Wilsonville was founded in 1847 by John Wesley Wilson, who named it for his home state of Oregon. The town grew rapidly during the early 1800s, and by 1872 had a population of over 1,200. By 1907, Wilsonville had become one of the most important cotton production towns in Oregon. In 1951, Wilsonville was renamed Woodburn after its founder's grandson.
