Wilsonville, Oregon is a town located in the Willamette Valley on the border of Oregon and Washington. The population was 9,652 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salem-Keizer, OR Metropolitan Statistical Area. Binoculars were first developed in Wilsonville by George Stephenson in 1845. He patented his invention called "The Binocular." By 1847 binoculars had become widely used throughout the United States and Canada for hunting, surveying and other purposes. In 1868, The Smithsonian Institution purchased a controlling interest in George Stephenson's binocular company which continued production until 1896 when it merged with an American Optical Company to form The American Optometric Company (AOC). AOC continued production of binoculars until 1959 when it was sold to Rheinmetall AG who continued production until 1979. During its time as an AOC company, Rheinmetall AG produced some of the most famous binoculars including those used by NASA for space exploration and mapping. In 1890-1892 two brothers named Otto and Carl Zeiss began manufacturing their own version of a Schmidt-Klein telescope tube known as a "Titanium Tube" or T1 camera tube microscope tripod mount microscope observation device having 1/4" step focal length eyepiece that could be rotated about its axis for viewing different parts of objects with variable magnification power from any position within 50 feet away using just one hand while holding another tool such as a household drill bit or screwdriver with which he secured focus while sighting through his eyepiece at whatever object he wished to observe without moving his tool. They made these instruments available through mail order only starting in 1898 selling them direct from their factory under the name "Otto Zeiss Telescope Instruments Inc." From this time onward all optical products bearing either Otto Zeiss' name or that of his brother CarlZeiss were usually labeled "Zeiss," even though they may have been made by other companies under that name at different times during their careers.) With new technologies like photography, television and laser technology becoming more popular throughout society over the years many people started purchasingbinoculars not just for use outdoors but also inside where they could now enjoy high definition images on LCD screens or digital cameras without ever having to leave home! In 1891, Wilsonville was first settled in Oregon by the Williams family. The town had a post office from 1892 until it was discontinued in 1922. In 1919, the towns of McCallum and Milwaukie were established withinWilsonville boundaries. In 1927, the town of Webster became part of Wilsonville. In 1945, the town of Happy Valley merged with Wilsonville.

The millstones that still stand today are from this time period and were donated by Mr. Wickersham's son-in-law to the town after his death in 1916. During World War II, Wilsonville played an important role as an airfield providing landing and takeoff facilities for military planes flying into and out of Portland Airport. A large hangar was constructed here which served as both home base for fighter pilots during their flights and also functioned as a storage depot for all sorts of supplies used by Air Force personnel during their wartime missions. After years of use, much of this structure collapsed due to heavy use over time; however, portions including several hangars remain standing today testament to how important Wilsonville had become to Allied forces during World War II! After World War II, Wilsonville experienced some growth but never reached its earlier level of importance thanks to numerous retirements and changes in American society which led to less interest in trade goods coming through town than ever before (although there has been occasional resurgence)). However, since 2000 things have begun changing again with new development (mainly through apartment buildings) arriving in town giving it back some of its former glory days; even though many people still live closeby they have access to all sorts of cultural attractions which make up what once was an important center for commerce/tourism!

Wilsonville is a town in Clatsop County, Oregon, United States. The population was 1,852 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Town of Wilsonville was founded in 1887 by George W. Hinton and others as a farmstead on the east side of the Willamette River. The original name for the town was "Hinton Landing." In 1907 it changed its name to Wilsonville after James C. Wilson, an early settler and director of the Oregon Railroad Commission. The city of Salem startedowntown in 1967, but Wilsonville continued to have its own police department until 1994 when it joined forces with Salem's Department of Police. The first post office in Wilsonville was established on July 26, 1887, and opened under this name.[2] The present post office building was built in 1903 and is still used today as a postal station. In 1915, local farmers began growing wheat because it was more productive than other crops they had been cultivating before then. This led to the founding of the Wheat Belt Cooperative Farm which continues to operate today as one of Oregon's largest agricultural organizations. Another early success story occurred when Bruce Chisholm developed a sales promotion campaign that helped spur tourism growth around Wilsonville during World War II.[3] Today many businesses located downtown are dedicated to providing services related to culture and history such as antique stores (one has been open since 1892), historical museums (the Oregon Historical Society has two locations open concurrently), restaurants specializing in regional American cuisine (such as Butchart’s Bistro & Barbecue) or general merchandise stores selling dating back over 100 years including several that remain open into modern times- all serving up unique local flavors from their respective regions).
