That same year saw the launch of America First Committee which advocated for American intervention in Europe at a time when many people thought such action would lead to World War II instead. After Pearl Harbor, some members of the Tigard Rifle Club decided it was time for them to once again engage in combat and joined forces with other organizations across Oregon against Japan (albeit unsuccessfully). Nevertheless, because those members had taken an oath to support and defend our country no matter what happened during wartime, they are considered heroes today by many people who know them personally or through stories told about them over time.

In 1875, Tigard had its first gun show and there were only 10 people in attendance. The show was so successful that it became a regular event. In 1879, Tigard had its first annual rifle match and won by default because no other town could field a team. After this victory, gun shows began to be held every year in the town and eventually Tigard became known as the "gun capital of Oregon."

Tigard is located on the Willamette River and has a population density of . The name Tigard may come from an early variant of "Tugar" which means "sweet corn." The name may also be derived from the word "tar," meaning trade goods carried over water or land. Early settlers in this area were farmers who grew sweet corn and other crops along with lumber and other goods to sell in nearby Portland. In 1851, Tigard was founded as a trading post on the southern bank of the Willamette River by John Cowlings and others. In 1868, it became the county seat after Multnomah County was organized out of parts of Clackamas and Washington Counties. From its inception until about 1890 when it lost its importance because Portland took over as the regional center for commerce, Tigard's economy was based largely on agriculture and fishing; however, since then it has become an important cultural center with several hospitals, several schools (including two high schools), two professional sports franchises (the Portland Timbers soccer team and the Portland Blazers basketball team), a large shopping mall (the largest in Oregon), numerous small businesses including four banks branch offices within walking distance of each other, well-preserved historic buildings including one courthouse that now houses community services after being used as a lofts for loggers during logging operations; and extensive tourism via both physical attractions such as its rich history—including more than 20 contributing buildings from various periods—and through recreation including riverboat cruises downriver to points near downtown where visitors can buy items made deputy commonwealth attorney general Jeremiah O'Brien collected while prosecuting timberland fraud cases during his time at DOJ

Tigard is a city in Multnomah County, Oregon, United States. The population was 44,818 at the 2010 census. Tigard is the county seat of Multnomah County and home to most of the University of Oregon campus. The area now comprising Tigard was first populated by Native Americans in the 17th century. The first European settler in what is now Tigard was John McLoughlin, who founded a small farm near present-day downtown on May 10, 1847. He named it "McLoughlin Bay". A post office called Tigard was established in 1851, and remained open until 1907. In 1854, fur traders Lewis and Clark discovered gold on the Willamette River south of Portland. This led to an influx of settlers into Oregon from nearby California during the mid-19th century; many of these new arrivals founded businesses and towns around Portland. One such newcomer was John Ziegler, who arrived in 1855 and soon purchased land east of modern-day Tigard for a ranch he called "Tigardo". Ziegler developed this land into what are today known as the Eastside Neighborhoods (now ranches) around his ranch house which overlooks Lake Oswego. In 1860, Ziegler married Julia Child; their marriage produced six children: Elliott (1861–1949), Nathaniel (1863–1939), Winifred (1865–1967), Arthur (1867–1945), and Katherine (1869–1965). With rapid growth coming from mills and mining operations throughout western Washington State following gold discoveries at Teapot Hill Canyon in 1861 and Donner Pass just east of Olympia two years later, Ziegler decided to establish a town on his land – Tigardo – with plats that were drawn up in November 1862. The entire town site was surveyed and plathed out by December 1st; construction began shortly thereafter without any private money being available to finance it Many early residents bought homes orchards or farmland where they situated their homes; those living away from main roads often did so by purchasing rights to use waterfowl hunting ponds located upstream from their properties.–(See map below) When completed on December 1st 1862 Tiburon had a population numbering only 8 people! Tigard is a city in the U.S. state of Oregon, on the Willamette River. The population was 27,751 at the 2010 census, making it the third-largest city in Oregon and its seventh-largest city by population within county. Tigard also contains two other towns: Tualatin and Beaverton. The area that now Tigard was first settled by people of the Columbia Plateau region in 1847 as part of what is now Washington County. Henry David Thoreau spent some time there around 1850 while on his way to build a cabin near Walden Pond in Massachusetts. A post office called Tigard was established in 1851, and the town grew rapidly thereafter. In 1862, when Ulysses S Grant took office as president of the United States and began eyed an expansion into western Oregon Territory, he decided to move west from Springfield, Illinois to take advantage of what was then an open land west of Portland along the river corridor known as "the Great Northwest." To reach this new territory, Grant sent his topographer John Cushing with instructions to plat out a new town called Tigard on land purchased from ranchers east of Hood Canal Ferry on Interstate 5 (now Thurston County). The town quickly became popular for its easy access to water supplies and its location along one of America's most important transportation corridors. Tigard's growth continued during World War II as a result of military activity nearby including Boeing's bomber plant at Renton and shipyards at Leavenworth Naval Shipyard where USS Tacoma (1941) was built USS Willamette (1943) During peacetime there were many businesses such as JBS Software which produced software for word processors Microsoft Word Lotus 1-2-3 Apple Macbook Air Android phone etc., but they closed down or moved away after 9/11 because their customers were not safe anymore becauseof terrorism threats throughout Northwest USA
