Afterward, businesses closed down all over town as people moved away to find jobs elsewhere in the city or outside metroPortland limits (the last such closure taking place in 1990). Today only a few remaining businesses remain significant enough to be called "small businesses." One notable exception is Northwest Books & Music which has been open since 1978 inside an old dry goods store on Fourth Street near Interstate 5 southbound exit #9A
