There are numerous stories of gunslingers and their firearms in the McKenzie River Valley in southeastern Oregon. One such tale concerns a man named John Moses. Moses was an experienced gun slinger who had learned his trade from his father, a hunter and trapper. Around the turn of the century, Moses migrated to the McKenzie River Valley and set up camp near what is now St. Helens. He soon developed a reputation as a successfulgunsmith and arms dealer. In addition to selling handguns, shotguns, rifles, ammunition, and other firearms; Moses also built several homes in the area for himself and his family. Moses' life changed when he became involved with local women during the early 1900s. One of these women was named Lula Harnessfield. Lula had worked as a maid in nearby Hillsboro before moving to St. Helens to live with her new husband, George Harnessfield Sr., after she divorced her previous husband. George was also an experienced gun slinger who had learned his trade from his father. Together, these men formed one of the most popular groups ofGunfighters in Stated County at that time; they were known for their skill with firearms and their ability to take on any animal or person they encountered on their travels around the region (Flammand 1997). Moses' fame as a gunfighter led him into competition against many other gunners throughout Oregon during this time period (Galloway 1998). He often traveled downriver to compete against others at GUNFEST events which took place annually at various locations throughout Oregon (Lloyd 1990). These competitions featured some of the best shooters in Oregon at that time and gave rise to John Moses' nickname "The Gun Man" (Galloway 1998). His competitive shooting skills won him many admirers among fellowGunfighters throughout Oregon during this era!

St. Helens is a small town in Oregon, located on the east side of the Cascades. The population was 6,671 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro, OR-WA Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2000 census, St. Helens had a median income of $68,437 and a poverty rate of 16%. The first humans to live in what is now St. Helens were Paleoindians who hunted game and gathered plants and berries near what is now Mount Hood. By 10,000 BC there were villages throughout central Oregon and northwestern Washington because this area was rich in resources such as coal and gold (later found to be false). The first Europeans to arrive in Oregon were Spanish explorers from Manila Bay in 1541 who named the area San Francisco de la Selva after San Francisco Xavier Montero y Salinas (a general during Spain's conquests), although this may have been an error as no Spaniards ever reached that location. In 1792 Lewis and Clark explored the Columbia River region including present day St. Helens when they discovered fresh water springs nearby which later became known as Springwater Springs National Monument; they named it for General George Wright (1747-1824) who had supervised their exploration expedition along with Major James Kintigh (1785-1867). At that time only 2% of Oregon was claimed by any country but Mexico so even if America did claim all of Oregon it would not have made much difference because Mexico already controlled parts of California and Arizona – two pivotal regions for early American expansionism! In 1859 Sturgis founded what would become Wasco County after his wagon train encountered Native Americans nearpresent day Deschutes Falls on their way north from Fort Benton Barracks Missouri where he had been stationed with his troops during the Mexican–American War; he quickly realized that this area could support both farming settlements as well as large gold mines so he foundedWasco County hoping to cash in on America's newfound wealth before European settlers arrived! He also hoped to avoid becoming embroiled in another conflict with Mexico over land ownership which would ultimately lead to World War II! The St. Helens, Oregon town was founded by Captain James Cook in 1792 as a trading post on the Snake River. The first school in the town was built in 1824. The town increased in population after gold was discovered near the town in 1847. The first store and post office were built in 1851. The main street of the town was called North Main Street until it was renamed Oregon Avenue in 1932.
