Bullets have been a part of Springfield, Oregon's history for many years. When the first Europeans arrived in what is now Springfield, they were greeted with firearms and ammunition. The area was originally inhabited by the Klamath people, who used bows and arrows to hunt game. Over time, other groups settled in the area and began using firearms to protect themselves from Indian attacks. At some point, a man named John Brown set out on a journey into Oregon looking for new land to settle. He took his rifle and pistols with him on his journey and began to shoot at Native Americans as he went. This action inspired others in the Midwest to start their own armed campaigns against Native American tribes. Eventually, Congress passed the Adams-Onis Treaty which gave America ownership of most of Oregon Territory. The treaty also provided for gun control measures so that no one could own too many handguns without government approval. With this new territory came new opportunities for business and industry, which led to growth in Springfield over the years. Some of these businesses included: Agrarian Land & Grain Company (now known as Monsanto), Northwest Electric Railway Company (later renamed Portland General Electric Company), Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company (now Verizon Communications), Sprague Glass Works (now known as Sprague Metal Products Inc.), First National Bank of Springfield (now known as Wells Fargo Advisors), Gresham Flour Mill, Herrick Fruit Stand (now defunct) and more!

In 1910, a rail line extended from Salem to Springfield; this connection helped make Springfield an important center for agricultural production and commerce. As early as 1892, property developers had started to build large estates in and around town; these estates continue to be circumscribed by present day streets and blocks. During World War II, much of southwest Oregon was requisitioned for military service; as a result, much commercial development took place near Bend and Eugene during that war years. After the war ended, many businesses closed or relocated due to rising costs of living and labor availability in postwar America. However, new businesses have begun to reopen in recent years as economic conditions improve throughout Oregon

Springfield, Oregon is a small town located in Southern Oregon. The population was 5,083 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest of the nine cities in Douglas County and it has the distinction of being one of only two towns in Douglas County that have never been annexed by any other county. The first European to visit Springfield was Capt. John McLoughlin who sailed into what is now port Orchard on November 3rd 1792 while exploring the Columbia River area for British forces under Admiral George Vancouver. On July 6th 1847, Mr. William Kapp founded the First National Bank of Portland and named it after his hometown Springfield, England where he had spent his childhood before coming to America as a young man. In 1907, Mr. Kapp donated land to make way for an auditorium on State Street which served as the first public building in Springfield. In 1916, Mrs. Clara Barton founded Portland Day School which remains operational today with over 1,000 students from throughout Multnomah County attending grades Pre-K through 12th grade each day during school hours from Monday through Friday! The Barton Building now houses the Operations Department for Salem-Keizer Schools District No. 2! On February 24th 1915, President Woodrow Wilson signed Executive Order 9981 authorizing construction of a new courthouse in downtown Springfield (the present day United States Courthouse). This project was spearheaded by Mayor Clarence Templeman and funded by contributions from many local citizens including Evalyn Sayers who raised $5,000 (). On October 15th 1923 Franklin Roosevelt visited Springfield when he announced plans to build a new White House within sight of City Hall! A plaque honoring Roosevelt's visit remains on Independence Avenue near city hall today! A group of Springfields residents led by Mrs. Mabel Harkness formed what became known as "The Citizens Committee For Better Roads" to raise funds for road improvements in their community which culminated with passage of Measure 97 in 1941 which improved transportation facilities within and around town! The success of this effort resulted in increased funding available for various projects such as signage and widening Of State Street proximate to city hall; these advances helped make downtown Springfield one of the most attractive destinations for businesses and shoppers alike! In 1951, Sonny Liston fought his last boxing match at Municipal Auditorium before moving permanently down south to Florida where he would become one of boxing's biggest stars
On November 3, 1874, Springfield was the site of a key battle in the American Civil War. Union forces under General Ulysses S. Grant attacked Confederate troops led by General Robert E. Lee, resulting in an 11-hour battle that ended with a Union victory. The town became an important rail and transportation hub during the war, and its growth led to its incorporation as a city on May 2, 1907.
