Fenton's store survived several fire bombings during World War II but finally closed its doors in 1957 due to financial difficulties. However, his legacy lives on through his son-in-law's business purchase of The Gun Shop brick building on SW Third Avenue in 1978 which remains today one of Salem's most popular tourist attractions forGun enthusiasts of all ages!
