Roseburg, Oregon is a town in Siskiyou County, Oregon, United States. The population was 9,907 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous city in Siskiyou County and the county seat of Siskiyou. The first permanent white people arrived in what is now Roseburg on December 21, 1847 by wagon train from Nevada. They were led by Captain Charles Waddell and his party of nine men under the leadership of George C. Smith. By 1850 there were over 100 residents living in Roseburg while only 10 cattle were grazing on nearby Mount Hood. The townsite was platted on April 15, 1853 by A.J. Palmer with Hyrum post office as its first stop along Umpqua Road (now State Route 5). A store opened at once and growth continued with new settlers arriving until 1886 when a fire destroyed much of the town center killing almost all but six people who rebuilt near Fourth Street and Main Avenue east of downtown using local lumber and stone quarries to build their homes again around an open square-like plaza which still remains today as an important shopping district for commuters into downtown Roseburg In 1902 two miles south of downtown on First Street lay what would later become known as "The Strip" or area between Second Street and Third Street which became an important commercial district for goods shipped down Umpqua River Valley to Portland during the early 20th century before Interstate 5 bypassed it completely beginning its massive construction project that continues to this day including many high-rise buildings Today's Roseburg has evolved substantially since those early days with several malls, fast food restaurants, movie theaters, hospital etc., making it one of busiest cities in Columbia County

Roseburg is a small town in Oregon, located in the Willamette Valley. The population was 2,500 at the2010 census. It became a city in 2013. The town was founded by pioneers on January 24, 1868, when they platted and named it after the rosebushes that grew near their farmstead. The first settler to arrive was Johnathan Sutter. Sutter built his house on what is now Main Street. He and his family were the first people to have access to water from the Klamath River east of Roseburg. In 1872, local entrepreneur William Nicholson opened a flour mill in town and began producing wheat flour for Portland markets. By 1880, there were 10 businesses in town with over 100 employees and $4 million worth of assets! In 1892, when Oregon became a state, Roseburg became an incorporated community under the name of Portlandia (afterPortland). In 1903 it changed back to Roseburg and continued as its own municipality until 1933 when it merged with neighboring Jackson County to form Multnomah County. Roseburg experienced several difficult times during its history; including trial by jury trials starting in 1907 which led to protests outside the courthouse; war service during World War II which interrupted manufacturing; fuel shortages during California’s drought; recession-era layoffs throughout 2010-2011;andersons fire that destroyed many buildings early this year;and lastly, Bear Necessity tornado outbreak on May 25th that killed 3 people and injured dozens more

By 1915, the population of Roseburg had reached 11,000 residents and it became an incorporated city. During World War II, the city played a significant role in the war effort as its munitions factories produced ammunition for U.S. forces fighting in Europe. Today, Roseburg is a small town with a population of around 10,000 residents and is home to several cultural attractions including the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the Oregon Museum of Technology.
