Roseburg, Oregon is a city in Tillamook County, Oregon, United States. The population was 21,715 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Tillamook County. In 1903 it became the first incorporated town in Oregon. Roseburg is located on the banks of The Willamette River and is known for its arts and culture. The town was founded by men from Portland who were looking for a new home after their city was destroyed during a fire in 1894. The name "Roseburg" has been said to come from two variant spellings of "Rosenberg." One reading goes back to 1842 when John Rosenberg laid out a plat near present day downtown Roseburg on land that later became part of what is now downtown Portland. Another story says that early settlers named their farmhouse Rosenhof because they found an old rosebush while exploring the area around present day Roseburg. In 1903, when Tillamook County was created from Multnomah County, Roseburg became its first incorporated town and began to grow as a center for trade and commerce within the new county. Many businesses were built here including The Kress Company which manufactured leather goods until 1949 and then transitioned into publishing; also located here was Oregon Newspapers which published daily newspapers in both English and Spanish until 1987 before moving to Austin TX., becoming one of the largest weekly newspapers there before folding operations in 2001 after more than 60 years in business.; also active during this time were many local cultural organizations including the Knights of Columbus (founded 1865), Pioneer Women’s Club (1879), First Methodist Episcopal Church (1892) and several art galleries including prominent native artist Charles Bickerton’s Gallery (1903-2002). In recent years much development has taken place within Roseburg itself with plans being made to expand its public square complex parking lot by adding another 200 spaces; currently 4 streets run through it making it one large arterial street ; overall growth throughout most sectors of our community has led to increased traffic congestion on some areas but overallRoseburg continues to thrive thanks largely to strong residents & businesses!

During World War II, rosebergians played significant roles in both Nazi Germany and American forces during their conflict; some have argued that their patriotism led them to become some of Oregon's most influential citizens. After years of growth and progressivism during the 1920s through 1930s - typified by Roseburg's establishment as one of America's "most Progressive" cities - economic stagnation set in during World War II due to stubborn resistance from many sectors within society to military service or any typeOf New Deal programs designed to revive America following its devastating war experiences abroad. However, despite these challenging times – marked by large unemployment rates throughout much OFR – local citizens continue to lead active lives characterized by entrepreneurialism (many involved in home manufacturing) along with strong community foundation work ethic typicalof Oreganians today who often contribute generously towards causes dearto their hearts like social welfare agencies or homeless shelters
Roseburg was founded in 1879 by pioneers Lewis and Clark. The city was named after General Samuel Rose, who had helped lead the Oregon Trail through the area. In 1902, Roseburg became the first city in Oregon to have electric service. The city also hosted the annual Portland Jazz Festival from 1951-1975.
