After Redmond's incorporation as a city, it began purchasing property east of its current boundaries; this included land across Beaverton Boulevard from today's University District to become today's Redmond campus. By 1915, Redmond had annexed most of southwestern Portland including much older neighborhoods such as Lloydminster and Hillsboro along with new areas including Burnside and parts of Southeast Portland near Interstate 5/Lackland Bridge
