Scope mounts have been a part of Redmond, Oregon since the early 1800s. The first sighting telescope in town was built by Capt. George Washington in 1827. In 1861, Mr. John Muir placed a Telescope on the summit of Mount Rainier as a gift to the city of Seattle. Mr. Muir also donated land for Redmond's first school, which opened in 1865. In 1888, Mr. Homer Akeley erected the first watchtower in Redmond and donated its mountaintop for use as a telescope viewing station. In 1905, Drs. Harry Hargrave and Clifford Dillingham erected the first observatory building on campus at what is now known as Observatory Hill Rd., home to both the University of Oregon College of Science and Technology (UOCST) and Regents Observatory from 1916-1921 and 1945-1946 until it was replaced by Museum Hall in 1969-1970 after it became evident that it could not be maintained due to vandalism or weather damage from all manner of students' activities there; however, Drs. Hargrave still retains an important role at UO DVD&T today). The scope mount has often been seen as one of Redmond's defining landmarks with its many years of history and contribution to society!

Redmond, Oregon was founded on August 29, 1851 as a small town on the banks of the Willamette River. The town grew rapidly and by 1865 had become an incorporated city. In 1912, Redmond annexed the neighboring towns of Hastings and Aloha. It became an independent city again in 1966 when it merger with nearby Beaverton.

The first scope mounts were designed by Dr. Harry Weems and were created for use on single-shot bolt-action rifles such as the Winchester Model 1892, Winchester Model 1897, and Bergmann rifle. The first expansion mount for the original M1911 pistol was made in 1911. It was a fixed sights design and used a Picatinny rail to attach an optics package. The second expansion mount was designed in 1929 and became the standard for pistols manufactured through 1945. It featured interchangeable barrels that could be attached to either side of the gun, making it versatile as a service weapon or personal weapon.
Redmond, Oregon is a city in the U.S. state of Washington and the county seat of King County. Redmond was founded on November 3, 1851, by John Tilton and others as the town of Dayton; it was named for Lieutenant Colonel George Redmond, who served in the United States Army during the Mexican-American War. The population was 21,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of Seattle–Tacoma metropolitan area. Redmond is home to Microsoft's primary campus and also to other companies such as Amazon Web Services, Lenovo Group Ltd., and Twitter Incorporated. The Providence School District serves Redmond students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade with programs in K-12 education and adult learning. The original settlers came from New England via the Great Lakes region including Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois before reaching what would become King County on April 14, 1851 when they organized as the First Precinct of Portland Township (later renamed Bellevue). They were followed by other pioneer groups over time until there were more than 50 families living in Redmond when it incorporated as a city on November 3, 1881 under its first mayor James Dorman (1847-1925). In 1901 large land deals led to new subdivisions including Northgate Park which became one of Seattle's most popular areas for employment after World War II due to its close proximity to Microsoft headquarters. On February 1st 1941 local citizens raised money through a bake sale to purchase 100 acres northeast of present day Microsoft campus for $1 per acre (the property still remains undeveloped). This donation helped make possible what would become known as "Redmond Gulch" which runs along Interstate 5 between downtown Seattle and north suburban Bellevue where many high technology companies are located today including Amazon Web Services and Google parent Alphabet Inc.. On September 26th 1968King County voters passed an ordinance creating Everett College within City limits while still recognizing Redmond’s role in expanding Everett College beyond city boundaries by passing an ordinance establishing Douglas Community College within City limits on December 10th 1969 making both schools fully integrated into City government making them one school district – this event marks both separate cities becoming one municipality achieving their full jurisdictional status under State law – this event also marked becoming one school district with all annexed properties having been included within that single school district name
Redmond, Oregon was founded on February 14, 1882 by James W. Redmond and his brothers in the town of Sandy on the shore of Puget Sound. The first store in the new community was built by Redmond and his brother Harry. They named it Redmond after their father, James W. Redmond. The village had a population of about fifty people when it was platted in 1882. A post office called Redondo Beach was established in 1892, but it closed in 1904. In 1905, a group of businessmen organized what became known as the "Bean Pottery Company" to produce pottery for local sale at a price below market value because they did not want to compete with imported goods from China. The company produced around one hundred pieces of pottery per year until World War II when production stopped because demand diminished because of the war. In 1951, Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen donated land near Redmond for use as an IBM research center which became the Microsoft Research Laboratory where he developed early versions of Windows and other technologies that would later be used at Microsoft including Internet Explorer and Office 365
