During its time as a post office, Pendleton also served as an agricultural center with many small businesses dotting its landscape including feed & Grain Store (1888), Cattleman's Store (1911), Woolen Mill (1914), Ford Truck Service (1970), Grain Elevator #2 & 3 (1969/1970), Mrs.'s Seed House & Seed Company (1966/1967) During World War II, Pendleton played host to various Air Force Base activity including storage yards for military vehicles and aircraft parts which provided more than 5 million pounds of cargo that helped support Allied war effort In 1969-1970 there was an addition to the downtown core consisting of two stories of housing with apartments above retail space In 1984-1985 there was construction within city limits of what is now known as "The Park" comprising three acres containing tennis courtsbouring public restrooms operated by Recreation District No.(4) On July 13th 1985 when City Council voted 6-0 to demolish Market Street between I-5 and Hwy 97A due to concerns over increased traffic related noise from new development adjacent to existing commercial properties; however this vote did not take into account developer opposition Leslee Jenson's property located at NW corner Broadwalk & Market Streets would become home to her new restaurant - Leslee's Restaurant which would later be demolished after she failed to get zoning approval from Clackamas County
