Pendleton, Oregon is a small town located in the Columbia River Gorge region of Northwest America. The population was 7,512 as of 2010. Pendleton is the county seat for Clark County and the only incorporated municipality in that county. It is located on the Columbia River south of Wenatchee and north of Mount Rainier National Park. The first Europeans to visit Pendleton were fur traders travelling through this area in 1805. The town was founded by Major George Vancouver in 1835 after his surveyor, John McLoughlin, discovered gold near present-day Pendleton. By 1840, goods being shipped downriver from Spokane had brought settlers to Pendleton and it became an important commercial center during the early 19th century. In 1851, Pendleton voted to secede from Clark County because it objected to voting laws enacted by then-County President James Kinsley that favored local interests over those of the larger county. The issue was resolved when a group led by Mayor Samuel Hubbard bought out all remaining shares in clark County's stockholders and formed new Clark County with its own government. During World War II, Pendleton played an important role as a military airfield servicing bomber missions over North America from nearby Seattle Air Force Base. After the war ended, many people left for various reasons including jobs in Seattle or other large cities; however, some continued to live and work at Pendleton until about 1970s when most people moved away due to development around town which has destroyed much of what once characterized this small community

The popularity of pistols led firearm manufacturers throughout America to begin producing handguns with various calibers such as .32ACP (7mm), .357 Magnum (10mm), .40S&W (12 gauge), 9 mm Luger (Pistol) among others in 1862 when President Abraham Lincoln announced his intention to make barrel-rifles available as standard issue weapons across all Ulysses S Grant’s armies after he took office following General Robert E Lee’s surrender at Appomattox Court House on April 12th 1865

Pendleton is a town in Linn County, Oregon, United States. The population was 2,986 at the 2010 census. Pendleton is home to the Pendleton Woolen Mills and was founded by Mormon pioneers in 1847. The town was destroyed by a fire in 1863 and again by a tornado in 1935. Pendleton has been rebuilt several times since then, most recently as an agricultural community with a small downtown district. The first settlers to what is now Pendleton were Mormons who arrived on horseback from Nauvoo, Illinois, in 1847. They built a wagon road from here eastward to the Snake River Valley and set up shop near present-day Pierreville. In 1849 they built a store next door to the current building of the Pendleton Woolen Mills; this became the nucleus of what would become Pendleton. With woolen production booming during 1850–1854 (due to increased demand from Ulysses S Grant’s Mexican War efforts), the town began expanding rapidly; within two years it had erected six buildings and had annexed two other villages (Westminster and Eastminster). In May 1853, Brigham Young issued his famous “Teachings of Christ” which declared polygamy illegal under God’s law; henceforth many LDS missionaries found themselves stranded or imprisoned on Utah property while their families moved westward into Oregon Territory (the so-called “D&C Manifesto” cutoff date for polygamy being January 8, 1830). When Mormon pioneer Lorenzo Snow learned that Umatilla Indian chief Joseph Smith had also practiced plural marriage—a practice not sanctioned under LDS scripture—he immediately ordered all LDS men living within five miles of Mount Hood not to desert their wives and children but instead donate one vote each toward election of a new president at Carthage College (later renamed Brigham Young University). This action effectively ended plural marriage in Oregon Territory before it could spread any further northward (Umatilla Indians continued practicing polygamy until 1840). Pendleton quickly recovered from its initial destruction caused by fire & tornado bombings: 1865 - A large fire destroyed much of downtown & raising $4000 for rebuilding 1952 - A severe EF2 tornado blew through town centre killing 3 people & causing widespread damage 1990 - After years of planning & investment, construction began on what would become known as "The Bend" District - located just south of downtown – becoming an established center for retail shopping
Pendleton was founded in 1859 by Captain John A. Pendleton, who named it for his father, James A. Pendleton. The town grew quickly and soon had a population of over 100 people. In 1871, the Oregon General Assembly granted Pendleton city status and the first mayor was elected. The town prospered until 1904 when it went bankrupt due to heavy debt incurred from its agricultural industry. During the early 1900s, Pendleton also became known as the "Gateway to Oregon."
