By 1870, there were over 150 businesses active within Pendleton including Ammo Outfitters (later renamed Gunsmiths), The Arsenal Store, The Blacksmith Shop, A Railroad Inn & Saloon (later changed to The hotel), A Boot & Shoe Store (later changed to J&K Boot Emporium), A restaurant called Mrs Diggs’ Sadlery (later changed back to Mrs Diggs) and several other small businesses which contributed greatly to downtown business activity during this time period! During the late 1800s through into the 1930s, Ammunition manufacturers such as Remington Arms Company increased their production rates while also moving away from handloading towards automated machines that produced more consistent results each time! This change helped drive down costs associated with producing ammunition while also resulting in larger quantities being available on a regular basis! Today little remains left standing from those earlier days except for remnants of old buildings that are still used today by locals who appreciate how important ammunition has been throughout history!
