In just two decades from its founding in 1795 until 1830 they had baptized 350 people; many more came later during leadership changes within their church!!missionaries also preached against slavery although efforts were made heretofore by Mexican authorities resident along US-Mexican border It should be noted that even though most missionary activity took place outside colonial boundaries there were occasional skirmishes between Indians/migrants on one side or another…..a fact which will come up again later as anti-immigrant sentiment increased following The American Revolution!!!When Mexico gained independence from Spain in 1821 all religious institutions except those affiliated with Mexico proper were outlawed……..the situation changed however upon Mexicos entry into a treaty with America (1846) whereby private churches ( Mexican Rite) would be allowed but public schools must take instruction from government aligned academies……………………….this policy change created serious tension inside Mexican cultural organizations regarding political ideology towards both “United”States……………..more on this below After independence our leaders realized that open warfare wouldn’t work given how well Mexicans could arm themselves so we started talks resulting in Treaty #9 where Umpqua River was ceded forming what is now eastern ORHANDADO VALLEY This event signaled a turning point because prior to this no whites had set foot on our soil since we acquired jurisdiction over it…..our leaders felt like we needed480 square miles OF OPEN LANDSCAPE WITH NO PEOPLE TO LIVE IN IT WASTING OUR TIME AND MONEY ON A MISSILE WE CANNNOT CONTROL We knew that if we didn’t have something better going then maybe eventually someone would find us……….so decided regardless so long as you don’t step on my toes This paper will explore why control over land was so important for fur traders during the 1800s; how ranching developed after1800; how prostitution evolved due to white settlement; anti-immigrant sentiment following The American Revolution; ranching developments once California became attached to US – especially after 1850 when tariffs were introduced
