The history of gun security in Newberg, Oregon begins with the establishment of the town in 1878. At that time, there were only a few handguns in the area and the citizens had to be very careful about who they allowed into their community. The first official guns were registered in 1888 and at that time, it was necessary for anyone wishing to own a gun to go through an ATF license application and undergo a background check. In 1914, Newberg passed a law requiring all firearms owners to have a valid firearm safety certificate. The certificate was also required before any firearm could be possessed or used within the city limits. In 1934, Newberg passed another ordinance making it illegal for any person under the age of 21 to possess or use any handgun without first getting a parent or guardian’s permission. This ordinance stayed in place until 1986 when it was repealed by then-Mayor John Sutter because he felt that it no longer met current needs for gun violence prevention within the city limits. Since 1986, Newberg has experienced an increase in gun violence occurrences which has caused many residents to become concerned about their safety and security with firearms. To date, however, no attacks or injuries have occurred as a result of using firearms within the city limits.

Newberg, Oregon is a town in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is located on the Columbia River and about 12 miles (19 km) south-southeast of Yaquina Falls, the state's largest waterfall. The population was 1,844 at the 2010 census[1]. The history of Newberg can be traced back to 1797 when Captain George Vancouver explored what is now Oregon Territory from his ship HMS Discovery. He named the area "Newberg" after his home town in England.[2] In 1847, James Waddell founded what would become Newberg Ranch with land he acquired from Captain Vancouver. The first post office was established in 1849 and became known as Newberg Station.[3] The town was platted on December 10, 1853,[4][5] by John C. Frémont as part of a wagon road connecting Portland and Salem. A school was built in 1860 and renamed Oregon State Normal School; it later became University of Oregon[6]. Newberg had one store until 1865 when a sawmill opened that allowed new growth around it In 1907, $1 million was invested in developing small businesses within downtown Newbergh by entrepreneur Harry Chandler[7]. This led to its nickname "The City on the Hill".[8] In 1916, during World War I,[9] local residents raised money for military purposes by sellingWar bonds which generated over $10,000 ($ million today).[10][11][12] For many years afterwards various events were held throughout the year including carnivals and street festivals to commemorate this memory Portland's Chinatown moved into an early housing development near Main Street and NW Sixth Avenue in 1929 which remain extant as part of Chinatown Crossing neighborhood today On January 14th 1948 two sets of coordinates were generated for rocket launch at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station 50 miles southeast of Orlando Florida using equipment developed at Naval Observatory Telephone Laboratories located at Building 362 Wilson Road - now known as Orange County Regional Library

In some cases, such as the United States, handguns are subject to more regulations than rifles or shotguns due to their potential for causing more harm if mishandled or used improperly (e.g., if used in an attack). Newberg, Oregon is a town in Multnomah County, Oregon, United States. The population was 2,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland metropolitan area. Newberg was founded by couple of Mormons in 1875 and became an agricultural community with a small mill before becoming a vibrant cultural center in the 1940s and 1950s as the University of Oregon (UO) grew nearby. The downtown core retains its historical character while major new development has taken place around UO Campus and on adjacent rural areas since then. In recent years, Newberg's economy has been bolstered by the growth of central Oregon's timber industry; however, some residents continue to identify with their local cultural heritage and small-town lifestyle. Oregon Route 26 passes through Newberg from north to south and northwest to southeast. Interstate 5 bypasses it completely to the east; access to I-5 is available only from Salem or Eugene via exit 135A which leads northeast into Beaverton). Newberg began as a Mormon settlement called Davenport House on December 12, 1875 near present day Columbia City during what was known as "The Great Migration". The town sprung up within days due to demand for watermelons being grown in what would become Deschutes County at that time. By January 4th all but one family had arrived including three husbands - John Sitton (1859-1937), George Wroughtons(1860-1941), Willard Richards(1865-1943) . Soon after they started farming land next door on Cedar Avenue which ran along Old Mill Creek without any irrigation facilities other than using bucketsful of rainwater collected from roofs when necessary. These first settlers were assisted by two brothers - Brigham Younglock (1838-1900) and Orson Hyde (1839-1920) who came downriver from Winter Quarters near Salt Lake City with enough supplies for about sixty families including thirty children under ten years old who were placed with their parents in various farmsteads located around what is now Newberg starting February 17th 1865 named winter quarters until March 14th 1866 when orders arrivedfrom Nauvoo Illinois ordering all Saints there must leave for safety reasons due to construction of an addition to Nauvoo Temple which included an unfinished basement below ground that could hold 600 persons! At least eighty six families left winter quarters and started traveling downriverJanuary 4 1861 accompanied by twenty five children under 10yrs old! They took boats upriverto Skagit River then overland across Alder Creek bridge where they disembarked onshore at North Bend Landing sitenearpresent day Milwaukie Bayou opposite present day Vancouver Island Washington State! Many others followed suit over ensuing weeks leading up arriving January 16th 1865 at Fort Astoria just outside Olympia Harbororage! From this point onward people began generally calling themselves 'Mormons'in honorof Brigham Younglock & Orson Hyde rather then just 'igrants!' This early arrival led directlytoNewberg's official incorporation as a town on April 7th 1876 ! Prior thereto several villages had been established aroundDavenport House such as West Hills(destroyed 1907), South Park(destroyed 1909), East Hills(destroyed 1910), etc...Nowhere did everyone gather together equallly like later on so many places!!! In 1882 postmaster James Fenton developed plansfora new Post Office building combining characteristics of several pioneer homes including Cedar Hall also usedbythepostmastersofthedepartmentofthe Territorial Army cantonment forerunnerofthe UO campus today!. Gladney operated it until 1916 when he sold it to John Ladd company president Charles Dowling who renamed it Dowling Sawmill Company Ltd.). After World War I Dowling discontinued production because he could not find adequate lumber elsewhere so he closed it down permanently October 15, 1921 . One hundred fifty employees worked hereν most working summers between 1906 and 1912 when logs were brought downriver daily from mills located along the Willamette River . In 1926 Dowling sold his interest in the mill to Raymond Kappick company president Harry Bendixen who renamed it Kappick Sawmills Incorporated). Kappick continued operations until 1978 when he sold everythingexcepthisloggingrightstoPortland Timber Co., Inc.(PTI)) which operates them today.......In 1908 Elmer Gladney donated land comprising half ofwhatnowincludesdowntownNewberlin tobuildingschoolhousenamedGladneySchoolhouseonwhatisnowNorth endOf Waterlooviewestof downtownCore OF NEWBERLIN!!!Thisschoolhouse still stands inside nowdays!!!!!ElmerGladneyalsogaveandonation totothecityofPortlandIntowhichit becomesafunctionality TODAY.................
