However, by 1950 the population had stabilized at about 500 people with most residents working in agriculture or other non-manufacturing sectors of local economy. In 1970s construction began on what would become much larger than initial plans; this eventually led to increased growth which has continued through today despite occasional setbacks such as high cost overruns associated with large infrastructure projects like Interstate 5 replacement project or expandable housing development adjacent to existing shopping malls).
