Milwaukie is a city in the U.S. state of Oregon, located on the Deschutes River. The population was 25,852 at the 2010 census and increased to 30,866 in 2016. In 1887, an entrepreneur named George Shooters donated land for a public shooting range in Milwaukie. In 1916, the first military shooting competition took place in Milwaukie with over 100 shooters from 10 countries participating. The event was so successful that it became annually held until 1978 when it was moved to Salem due to budget restrictions. The Milwaukie Shooting Range remains one of the most popular shooting ranges in Oregon today and host many events each year including show/compete matches and rifle shows open to the public as well as hunter/shootist training opportunities for individuals and groups of hunters.

Milwaukie is a town in Wasco County, Oregon, United States. The population was 2,948 at the 2010 census. The ZIP code for Milwaukie is 97107. The climate in this area is classified as "summer rainforest" by the Köppen Climate Classification system. The community was first settled in 1868 when pioneers homesteaded on land that would become Milwaukie. It took name from nearby Mount Hood and the word "walamuie", which means "a place where everything grows." In 1872, John Nordquist donated of land to the town for a post office and school. In 1876, local resident Simeon Beach donated of land north of Milwaukie for a reservoir that would serve as water supply for both towns and people working in the adjacent rice fields. A park named after him was also developed in this area. In 1903, a fire destroyed most of what remain of downtown Milwaukie; however, new construction began immediately on what would become known as “the Town Square” – an important commercial center that still exists today within walking distance of most households. At its peak during World War II it housed over 100 businesses including several large banks and numerous stores and restaurants including Jiggs Bakery & Cafe (now Barnes & Noble), Woolworth's Grocery Store (now Safeway), State Theater (later Jack Straws Pub) and more than 30 movie theaters across Oregon alone! Bicycling became popularized in Milwaukie when Eugene Baynes started renting bicycles to people working near his printing shop on First Avenue between Third Street and Fourth Street while he printed newspapers for The Oregonian newspaper company back then - one Cycle Lane later served as part of the original Broadway Trail leading into town from Portland! Milwaukee has seen many changes over time but one constant is its strong economy which continues to benefit from its location surrounded by major metropolitan areas with plenty of jobs available!

After that period of rapid growth, Milwaukie experienced a sharp decline in population from the mid-1970s through the early 1990s as waves of foreign born residents moved into downtown areaspriced out of what had been once attractive neighborhoods near Interstate 5. In recent years however, Millwaukie has begun to experience a resurgence with new construction taking place around its core business districts including riverfront redevelopment along Salmon Bayou; an expansion of its arts program; and a renaissance for nightlife which has seen restaurants open late into the night and venues like The Rave reopened after being closed for many years. Today Milwaukie is one of busiest cities in Northwest Oregon with employment opportunities across all sectors including professional services such as law enforcement and healthcare; service businesses such as fast food restaurants and convenience stores; manufacturing companies such as carmakers Toyota Motor Corp., Boeing Co., Lockheed MartinMrs.; information technology companies such as Intel Corp.; education providers includingPortland State University/Oregon Health & Science University; research organizations like Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL)and Microsoft Corporation among others.
Milwaukie, Oregon was founded in 1847 by the brothers Jedediah and Nathan Milwaukie. The town was named after a Shawnee word meaning "millet field." The first permanent settler in Milwaukie was John Prentice. In 1850, the population of Milwaukie was just over 100 people. By 1860, the population had increased to around 350 people. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the Columbia River and its access to lumber and other resources. In 1872, Milwaukie became an incorporated municipality with a population of 1,500 people. The city annexed neighboring towns in 1934 and 1937. In 1959, Milwaukie became part of Portland.
