In 1916, the Mcminnville Water Company was organized. The company had a water system that delivered water to residences, businesses, and schools in the town of Mcminnville. In 1922, the company changed its name to the Oregon Water Company. The company delivered water to people and businesses in Oregon's rural communities for over fifty years. In 1985, the Oregon Water Company merged with two other companies to form Allied Waters Corporation. Allied Waters Corporation is now one of the largest water distributors in North America.

Mcminnville is a small town in Oregon, located about an hour west of Portland. The population was 5,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Beaverton-Portland-Hillsboro, OR Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Mcminnville were French traders and fur trappers in the early 18th century. They named it "Mikkawa" after a Native American village near present day Vancouver, British Columbia. In 1847, some Mormon pioneers arrived here from Utah and set up a small community called Kimball City on the banks of the Willamette River. By 1860, however, most of these Mormons had left for other parts of Oregon due to religious persecution by Joseph Smith's Latter Day Saints movement (LDS Church). When Congress passed the Kansas–Nebraska Act in 1854, Mcminnville became part of Nebraska Territory. However, because it was not included within Nebraska's borders when this territory was created – as required under law – it reverted back to Oregon on November 9, 1861. The original post office here was established on December 3rd of that year; its name has been unchanged ever since (). Oregon legislature reestablished post office on October 1st 1870 with new name "Mc Minnie". On July 4th 1890 – just two years after incorporation into Portland County as a town – Mc Minnie changed its name to "Mc Minnerville" in accordance with an act approved by Congress that allowed towns and villages to be renamed retroactively if their original names had been changed before they joined metropolitan areas or counties within metropolitan areas such as Portland or Hillsboro (). This change followed enactment by then-mayor Tom McCallum Sr., who felt that his namesake city would be more successful than either "Portland" or "Hillsboro." At the time of its incorporation into Portland County as a town in 1920 (), however, little had happened to differentiate Mc Minnerville from either Portland or Hillsboro other than slightly different streetscape architecture and use of county government buildings (e.g., courthouse). In recent years there has been much discussion about creating what may become one large city in central Oregon centered around both downtowns for business and cultural activity (the “Downtown District”) and adjacent neighborhoods serving primarily agricultural purposes (the “Northeast District”) while also surrounding schools providing quality educational opportunities for all ages including prekindergarten through high school students

The city experienced some growth during World War II when it became home to two naval bases: Naval Air Station Orchard Knob and Naval Shipyard No. 1 (later renamed Kaiser Wilhelm II). During the 1960s and 1970s, Mcminnville experienced significant redevelopment including construction of several large shopping malls, new highways and public works projects such as a new water main system and widening of streets into bicycle lanes. However, these renovations did not result in increased population or prosperity; instead they caused many residents to leave for more developed communities outside of town while leaving behind abandoned buildings and infrastructure which has led to problems with decay over time. In 2016, Mayor Dave Bietman announced plans to redevelop much of downtown into a mixed-use district which would include residential units as well as commercial space
Mcminnville was founded in 1887 by J.L. Stephenson and named for his brother-in-law, John McMillin. The town grew rapidly during the early years of the 20th century due to its location on the banks of the North Willamette River and its many mills. In 1922, Mcminnville became a city and has continued to grow since then. Today, Mcminnville is home to a population of over 25,000 people and is an important economic center in Oregon.
