Mcminnville is a small town in central Oregon, located on the banks of the Willamette River. The population was 796 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in what is now Mcminnville was James McMinn and his family in 1847. In 1865, John Capps and his brother-in-law Pete built a log cabin on the riverbank, which remains standing to this day. In 1872, J.P. Peterson settled in what is now Mcminnville after spending time traveling through Oregon looking for a new place to farm. He arrived with his family, who named their settlement "Peterson City." By 1900, Peterson City had grown to includeavers (tenement buildings), a store, several frame homes, and two churches: oneMethodist and one Catholic. The city's growth continued until World War II when it shrunk to its current size due to wartime military housing construction nearby. During World War II, many people from Mcminnville enlisted in the United States Army as substitutes or volunteers. Many men from here served all over North America including campaigns in Europe and Asia; some even saw action during World War II itself - most notably Private First Class Forrest Mims who fought at Iwo Jima! After the war ended, many of these veteran soldiers returned home and started families of their own; however, many more chose not to return home because they were unable or unwilling to find jobs following their service abroad. This left an empty space within what was once known as "The City." In 1951, Kenneth Vogt purchased property adjacent to Williamson Street west of downtown Mcminnville from Mrs. Fenton for $1 per acre (at that time land values were high). Vogt began developing this land into what is now called "Vogt Park." After years of hard work by Vogt and his team - including laying off local farmers so he could get good access to water – parkland today occupies much of what used to be residential neighborhoods near downtown Mcminnville across four blocks northward from Willamette Avenue between Williamson and Lombard Streets – giving landmark status both directly below Vogt's house (now number 33 Lombard Street) as well as across three other streets extending eastward from it (now numbers 31 Williamson Street; 30 Waverly Place; 27 Lombard Street).

Mcminnville, Oregon was founded in 1847 by John and Anna McNair. The McNairs were pioneers who had come from Illinois. In 1850, they built the first store in what is now Mcminnville. The McNairs were also the first to plant wheat in Oregon. They did this because they knew that it would be a profitable crop. The McNairs continued to grow wheat and other crops until 1870, when they sold their farm and moved to Bend, Oregon. There, John McNair started the first bank in Bend and Anna became president of the bank. From there, she worked hard to make Bend into a city with good schools and businesses. In 1902, Anna McNair died at the age of ninety-six years old. John McNair continued to live until his death in 1907 at the age of ninety-eight years old. Because of his work at the bank and his wife's sacrifices, Bend became one of the most prosperous cities in Oregon during the 1800s
Mcminnville, Oregon was founded in 1848 by J.D. McClure and his family. The first post office in the town was established in 1850. The town grew quickly due to its location on the Deschutes River and its natural resources. By 1870, the population of Mcminnville had reached 1,000 residents. In 1880, a railroad was built through Mcminnville and it soon became a major transportation center for the region. In 1915, the town's first school opened and it continued to grow until it peaked at around 200 students in 1960. Throughout its history, Mcminnville has been home to many notable people including farmers JT Russell and HN Washburne; actors John Lennon and Yoko Ono; and businesspeople Bob Dornan and Steve Jobs
