In 1850, when Oregon became a U.S. state, there were few guns in the area. The first to be developed in the area was a rifle that fired shot out of an airgun. This early airgun was powered by an 18-pound weight attached to a long tube that could be drawn up by hand or pulled behind someone as they walked. In 1870, one entrepreneur started selling rifles and shotguns using compressed air as the power source. He named his company Airguns and Firearms Company after his invention of this new technology. In 1872, he started marketing his firearms through post offices all over the United States. By 1880, Airguns and Firearms had become one of the largest gun companies in America with sales totaling $2 million dollars! By 1900, there were more than 1,000 businesses manufacturing firearms using compressed air! A number of these businesses continued to produce firearms until 1911 when World War I interrupted production for 5 years! During World War I, many farmers lost their crops due to aerial bombing during the war and some became victims of military shootings; however, no cases were reported from Oregon until 1915 when two civilians were killed by a rifleman while hunting deer near Scappoose Hills State Park! When World War II began on September 2nd 1939, Oregon’s lack of firearms prevented much destruction from taking place across our state but Mcminnville did experience some damage done by Japanese forces during that time period- extensive damage was done to homes and businesses on both sides of US 97 north/south west of town including Noname Valley where several structures burned down completely leaving gaping holes in what once Functioned as Rural Homes!! It wasn’t until 1945 when Community Relations Officer (CRO) Harry Hite decided to go door-to-door checking on how everyone was faring after Japan’s surrender which led him Checking into Noname Valley where he noticed through use of binoculars numerous large pieces of ammunition still lying around…..actually Ammunition shops like these are pretty common now days thanks to people like Harry Hite who stepped up and helped get things back on track

Mcminnville is a small town in Oregon, located on the banks of the Cascades River. The population was 627 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wenatchee-Tumwater-Cordova, WA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1892 by John D. Rockefeller and his brother James D. Rockefeller, who came from McKinnon, Scotland. They named it after their father's ranch in New Mexico. The local post office was established in 1893 and remained until 1959. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all of it land. The climate here is described as "moderately cold year-round" with average temperatures ranging from about 0 degrees Fahrenheit to about 36 degrees Fahrenheit (-21 degrees Celsius to +119 degrees Celsius). Snowfalls are common during winter months when freeze/thaw occurs regularly throughout much of the year; however, many locals also enjoy growing crops and raising livestock in this warm climate (a rarity for most northwest states). summer months are typically quite hot but not blistering like adjacent southwestern states; nonetheless it still experiences some sporadic showers or thunderstorms which can delay outdoor activities due to lightning activity

Mcminnville was founded in 1859 by John and Bertha McNeill, who started a gristmill on the banks of the Willamette River. They named their town after their father, James McNeeley, who had settled in the area in 1837. The town grew rapidly during the early days of Oregon's gold rush, and by 1861 there were more than 50 people living in Mcminnville. The first school in Mcminnville was built on the corner of Third and Second Streets. It served as a public school until 1872, when it became a district school. In 1906, Mcminnville became part of the Portland School District. During World War II, Mcminnville played an important role as a munitions production center. The local paper mills produced over 1 million rounds of ammunition for the war effort. After the war ended, many of these mills closed down, but one continued to produce paper products until 1984.Today, Mcminnville is home to several small businesses and is known for its annual Apple Blossom Festival which happens over Memorial Day weekend
The first permanent settler in Mcminnville was James A. McNaught, who arrived in 1872. McNaught built a cabin on the banks of the Willamette River. The town was founded as a result of his efforts and growth. By 1888, Mcminnville had become an important transportation and communication center for the region. It also became a popular tourist destination due to its scenic beauty and interesting historical artifacts.
