Other early settlers included Julius Kapp and his brother John Gist who arrived in 1892; they founded Kapp & Gist Lumber Company which still operates out of Lebanon today. Lebanon's location makes it an ideal place for agriculture – its fertile soil has been used to produce crops such as rice, wheat, cotton, and potatoes since before European settlement began. Today, Hezbollah Farms Inc.,owned by agribusiness giant commodity trader Cargill Credit Suisse AG (CARG) focuses on growing grapes for wine production and exporting them to Europe and North America; while primary industry continues to be agriculture with cattle ranching accounting for most jobs hereabouts employment totals around 50%.

Lebanon, Oregon is a small town in Polk County, Oregon, United States. The population was 2,611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland metropolitan area. The first documented inhabitants of what is now Lebanon were Native Americans who used the area for hunting and gathering during the late 18th century. In 1902, Frenchman André Leduc founded a logging camp on the then-uninhabited land in what is now Lebanon. From 1903 to 1907, he also loggers built a sawmill and grist mill on the site of present-day Lebanon Elementary School. A post office called Lebanon was established in 1904, and remain so to this day. In 1925, retail store pioneer Harry Dunham opened his first store in what is now Lebanon City; it became known as Dunham's Department Store until 1972 when it closed its doors. The last occupant of the building before it closed was Englishman Donny Lamb; he operated an ice cream parlor from 1963 until his death in 1988. In 1984, construction began on a new high school which would replace Lebanon High School which had been destroyed by fire that year. The new school was dedicated on October 26th of that same year and named after Mrs./Dr.; Florence Welsh Lamb (1892-1983), wife/co-founder of Donny Lamb's ice cream parlor who donated $25K towards its construction fund
