In 1951, when Interstate 5was completed through central Bend and Lebanon followed suit with plans for an interchange just north of the town center at I-5 Boulevard/State Street, A&P's store moved to SEIU property on Third Avenue south of I-5. Twenty years later another gift from Elias Lassiter led to the opening of Antioch Christian University's School of Business Administration off SW Second Ave., one block east of SEIU's original store location on Third Ave.. This move also helped solidify Beirut's status as an educational center for eastern Oregonians including many Lebanese Americans who still reside there today. In 1984 Armenian refugees fleeing Armenia began arriving in Lebanon seeking asylum; some settled in Beirut while others moved into adjacent towns such as LaGrange and Corvallis before ultimately settling permanently in Lebanon proper following the fall of that country’s government to Persian forces during World War II under General Moshe Dayan.. Most Armenians living in Lebanon prior to this time chose not to return home due largely to fear for their safety after weeks or months witnessing massacres taking place across Anatolia that left more than 1 million Armenians dead or missing…. By 1990 over 60% of all households within Beirut identified themselves as Armenian regardless of whether or not they actually enjoyed full citizenship rights granted by Syria upon its independence from Ottoman Empire… In 1994 following heightened tensions between Armenia and Turkey over Nagorno Karabakh referendum results which saw majority Armenian voting go against Turkish demands for autonomy within Azerbaijan, demonstrations took place throughout Hezbollah controlled Beirut resulting in dozens killed…..After several days Of NRA Standoffs With Israeli Militias And Gun confiscations From Lebanese Citizens culminated In Israeli Troops Entering The Town On Thursday Night...This event signaled beginning Of The End For Beirut As Its Residential District Became One Large refugee camp……Today much like it did 25 Years ago when So Many People Died Trying To Bring Peace To Two Countries But Failed….. Today There Are More Arabs Living In LeBaneen Than THERE ARE HERSELES IN ARROUND THE WORLD!

Lebanon, Oregon was founded in 1859 by John C. Fremont and his wife Lucy. The town became a post office in 1865 and a city in 1889. It was named for the Lebanese people who had settled there during the late 1800s.
