Lebanon, Oregon is a small town in the Deschutes Valley of Oregon. The population was 2,088 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland metropolitan area. Lebanon was founded in 1875 by father and son, Emile and Charles Bouchard. The family moved to Oregon from Montreal in 1876 and homesteaded on a tract of land near what is now Lebanon, Oregon. In 1880, the family organized a townsite association which built a school and Trading Post around 1885-1887. In 1886, Charles Bouchard married Sarah Jane Hales who had also come to Oregon from Montreal with her parents. They operated a general store and mill at Lebanon for several years before moving toPyramid Lake in 1890 where they raised chickens until 1893 when they bought an adjacent farm which they ran until their death in 1916. The couple's children: Gustave (1887-1964), Adele (1889-1979), Bertha (1891-1983), Maurice (1903-1968) and Claude (1905-1984) all became farmers themselves or worked as mechanics or truck drivers while living at Pyramid Lake or elsewhere on the ranching property that their parents acquired after selling their interest in the business to Gustave Sr., Bertha's brother in 1907. In 1924 Charles Bouchard purchased an additional farm east of Lebanon for $10 cash from David Howland who had taken over some land from his father Samuel Howland during prohibition days when alcohol was not sold within city limits. This land continued to be used for farming purposes until it was leased out during World War II to Japanese nationals as part of General Douglas MacArthur's LOGCAP campaignOperation Cartwheel . The entire parcel including Lebanon was burned down by United States forces during this time although portions still remain today . During World War II Lebanese Americans boycotted war production because conscientious objectors were not allowed military service however many men did serve with distinction such as Captain Donald D'Angelo who rose through ranks to become commanding officer of Marine Corps Forces Pacific during World War II After Holy Cross College closed its doors following the war, enrollment gradually began flowing back into Lebanon again due to postwar difficulties finding replacement students while other colleges flourished including Keene State Teachers College which reopened its doors after Reconstruction following federally mandated racial segregation . With increased competition for jobs throughoutOregon postwar growth led many Lebanese Americans either buy homes outsidePortland or move closer into town where they could establish businesses despite continuing discrimination against them both insideandoutsideofthe community according INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ASSOCIATION OF OREGON LEMANDSBURG

In 1905 it became a city with a population of 10 residents; however, it only had power until 1915 when it got its own electric plant and light companies
