Lake Oswego, Oregon is a town of over 41,000 people located in northwestern Oregon. The population was recorded at 41,951 in the 2010 census. It is part of the Salem-Keizer-Eugene metropolitan area. The first gun case made in Lake Oswego happened during World War I when the United States government bought guns from local farmers to use against the Japanese. The war ended with Japan's surrender and no land was taken from them as a result. After the war, many Americans brought their old firearms back to live in or around Lake Oswego. One such individual was Moses Brownell who had several handguns purchased during World War I and also started an Arms and Ammunition store on NE First Street which still operates today. In 1938, Mayor Harry Sargent announced that he would be moving the city hall to what is now downtown because it needed more space for its growing population and businesses. A group of citizens formed a committee to develop plans for developing downtown and came up with a plan that would include creating two streets named after General Dwight Eisenhower (USMC) and Admiral Chester Nimitz (USN). The first street opened up in 1941 while Admiral Nimitz's street opened up in 1945. In 1951, Mayor Sargent declared May 1 as "Gun Case Day" to celebrate all of the progress that has been made since 1938 when Gun Case Day was first celebrated by him. Today, GUN CASE DAY happens every year on May 1st throughout Lake Oswego County because so much has changed since then! The region became part of Mexico during the Mexican-American War, which ended with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848. In 1853, Lake Oswego was drained by troops under General John C. Frémont as part of his conquest of Oregon. The lake's name comes from a Oso or Chinook word meaning "place where many waters meet." The first Europeans to visit the area wereQuakers who set up a trading post on its shores in 1795. By 1800, it had been renamed Oswego after Sir George Vancouver, who toured the region that year with an expedition led by Captain David Thompson. The town began to grow rapidly due to its location; people started shipping goods around the lake for sale and fishing trips became popular attractions for tourists. By 1908, there were over 200 residents living in what is now downtown Oswego. In 1912, OSU students founded their own student organization called Delta Chi Omega Local No 511 (DROP). DROP helped promote campus activism among OSU students and work towards creating social justice issues on campus through education and demonstrations outside local businesses and government buildings. In 1925, OSU bought 350 acres east of downtown from some investors who had developed it into farmland used for growing crops such as corn and beans until they were taken over by OSU in 1922 when it purchased land adjacent to McNary Park Cemetery for $3 million dollars which would become home to both university housing and Student Recreation Center (SRC). At this time SRC was one of only a few collegiate gymnastics programs in North America at that time; concurrent with gymnastics' growth at other universities such as UCLA SRC emerged as one of most highly respected organizations on campus due to its focus on community service projects across campuses nationwide including building new roadsides throughout Los Angeles County using donated materials from local landowners/Residents! OSU has made significant advancements since then including opening Payne Hall – home today to School Psychology & Social Work departments which opened their doors back then – much like how Payne Hall currently functions today: With classrooms, laboratories countless meetings rooms etc., Osu’s Chandler Pavilion can house nearly 4500 people! Finally alumni events have become more prominent too! For example recent Homecoming fetes have moved beyond just beingreception areas into main event venues thanks largely to generous donations by alumnae/friends/family members all around Northwest Ohio
The Oswego area was first settled by the Klamath people in the late 18th century. The first white person to arrive in the area was Captain James Cook, who visited the region in 1795. The town of Oswego was founded in 1825, and it became a municipality in 1903. In 1946,Oswego County was formed from a portion of Multnomah County.
