Since then, Klamath Falls has grown rapidly both through annexation by other municipalities and through development within its own borders – including the construction of several shopping malls and restaurants along Interstate 5 between La Grande anddiscounts on groceries delivered to residents’ doorsteps

Klamath Falls, Oregon is a city in Klamath County, Oregon, United States. The population was 15,829 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Klamath County. The name derived from the local word "klamath," meaning "to cross over." The first written record of humans living in what is now Klamath County was in 1847 when Jedediah Smith and his party passed through this area on their way from Fort Hall to Honeynakee Lake. In 1851, George Cowlitz built a cabin here and named it "Cowlitz Station." In 1863, John Day discovered gold at Siletz Bay and began an expedition to explore this new land. He named his discovery "Day's River" after himself. In 1888, a group of men led by Captain David Sather arrived in what is now Klamath Falls to build the Oregon Trail wagon road between Benton and Douglas Counties. They named their town after Sather's home state of Washington (Washington City had been founded earlier that year). The town continued to grow until 1907 when it lost its status as the county seat when Butte became the new county seat. In 1911 Purcell Putnam donated land for a mental hospital which would become known as Putnam Hospital; it opened its doors on October 1st that year. The city limits were established in 1912 by order of then-Governor John Wickersham after incorporation of all unincorporated areas within present day Klamath Falls into the city limits granted them by Act No. 5779.- After years of planning and construction by Mayor Harry Fenton, Union Pacific Railroad constructed its line through downtown Klamaths Falls on February 12th 1915 making it possible for people who worked on projects along this line to live within walking distance of their jobs instead of having to leave their homes during lunchtime or evening hours just so they could go back to work afterwards! Once completed,Union Pacific Railroad Main Line Extension brought trains right up next door to downtown streets with no stop required - finally ending lumbering days for locals working along these tracks! Today you can still see evidence of railroad activity such as old switchbacks and Yard No.(now Thrasher Park) inside some buildings in downtown! There are also several small shops located throughout downtown which remain open today despite high competition from online shopping services like Amazon etc.– Although many small businesses have closed since 2007 due more recently updated technology becoming available online; Downtown remains one of most vibrant areas in the entire city – fullof life even during slower times!
