Keizer, Oregon is a small town in the Klamath Mountains of southern Oregon. It is located on the Keizer-based Keizer River and is part of the Rogue Valley Regional District. The population was 1,868 as of the 2010 census. In July 1887, John W. Keiser founded a post office at what is now Keizer and named it after himself. A post office remained in operation until 1959. The first settlers in what is nowKeizer were wagoners who traveled up the Klamath River for goods and trade with other parts of Oregon and California. By 1887, there were about 20 people living in what is nowKeizer. Theysettle on land that had been donated by Captain George O'Brien of Corvallis,Oregon during the Gold Rush era. A school was built in 1889 for students from nearby Fort Hall and by 1893, there were 10 students at Keiser School House & Store. A mill was built in 1895 to produce flour for local Consumption Co-operative stores which continued until 1903 when an electric mill became available; this operated until 1951 when it was replaced by a gas turbine engine mill which still operates today. In 1907–08, Keizers football team played its first game against Kennewick High School (now Kennewick High School varsity football). The game ended with a 7–0 victory for the home team over their opponents from Yakima County attended by 100 people including Territorial Governor Eugene Talmadge and members of Congress: Hiram Johnson (D-Californy), Salmon Pickinger (R-Wash.), James Fenton (D-Conn.)and Walter Reuther (D-Mich.). In 1911–12, they took on Vancouver Island Agricultural College open field scoring 44 points off 12 plays resulting in a 14–7 win.; their only loss came at thenate Portland State College where they trailed 13–3 early in the fourth quarter before rallying to tie it 13 years later with final score 43 – 31

Keizer is a town in Oregon, United States. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro, OR-WA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Keizer post office operated from 1887 to 1959. The Keizer Mound and Village Site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. The first Europeans to visit what is now Oregon were Spanish missionaries who founded San Francisco de la Bolsa (nowSanta Clara) on April 28, 1769. A small group of French fur traders followed them two years later and named their new settlement Fort Vancouver after their leader, Jean Nicolet. In 1824, gold seekers discovered payable amounts of gold near where Keizer now stands and soon thereafter the town began expanding rapidly into what would become Oregon. Erected as a public square by local citizens in honor of John Cushing who had recovered an important shipment of gold bullion at nearby Butte Creek in 1848, initial development plans called for a larger city center with an opera house, library, Masonic lodge and other cultural amenities but these were all scrapped when resources became limited during the Civil War era and late additions such as a cotton gin were not feasible or practical given current conditions. In 1865 Kipling moved his family to Oregon from England so they could be closer to his family’s plantation operations in Louisiana but he never lived permanently in that state; he moved back westward again several times before finally settling permanently at nearby Keizer about 1888 when he published “A Tale of Two Cities” His book made him one of America’s most famous authors after its release and led to increased interest among Americans inOregon culture and history which continues to this day including visits by many foreign leaders including Ulysses S Grant during his visit to Portland in 1898 In 1951 Gresham College opened its doors here providing undergraduate education until it merged with Portland State University becoming PSU/Keiser on January 1st 1978 . Today there are few if any remnants left from early community life like horse barns used for haymaking or blacksmithing; instead today you find evidence of Early American architecture with brick built Selkirk Street School being one notable exception . There has been recent development along Selkirk Street led by real estate developers who have leveled much older buildings adjacent to Market Place into parking lots creating large blocks overlooking downtown which offers views right up into the heart of downtown business district Today Keizer functions as an agricultural communities with around 60% self production farming while 10% comes from municipal services such as fire suppression , water supply , trash pickup etc
Keizer was founded in 1887 byoren and james keizer. The town was named after John Keizer, a settler who came to the area in 1876. The first post office opened in 1889, and the first store opened in 1890. In 1915, the first school was built. In 1922, Keizer became a city.
