Keizer is a small town in Oregon, located on the Keizer River. The population was 1,545 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Keizer-Alameda County metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Keizer were French missionaries in 1795. They named it "Lac de la Saline", meaning "Lake of the Salt Springs". The name later changed to Keizer because of German explorer Johann Friedrich vonKeiser, who explored and mapped the area in 1807-8. The community began as a farming village on the east bank of the river opposite present day downtown Keizer. In 1871, it became an agricultural center when a wagon road from Portland was constructed through this area and into Willamette Valley. In 1916, General Douglas MacArthur called upon President Woodrow Wilson to approve U.S.$5 million for military construction in Oregon during World War I due to problems with food supplies in Europe and concerns about German troops entering America undetected. This led to increased development around here as farmers turned their lands into farms orchards and vineyards that yielded fruit trees such as apples and grapes for export to Europe (the industry peaked during World War II). After World War II ended, many manufacturing jobs moved away fromOregon while other jobs developed here such as health care and engineering services which continue today as supermarkets, banks etc., making this one of most heavily populated areas outside of major cities despite having only 1/10th the population density found in some larger metropolises like New York City or Los Angeles

Keizer is a town in Oregon, United States. It was founded in 1885 by James Keizer and John C. Linn, who named it for George Benton Keizer, the first president of the University of Oregon. The city has since grown to be a major regional center with a population of over fifty thousand people. The town was originally located on the banks of the Klamath River near present-day Fremont, California. After being abandoned for several years following construction of an irrigation canal through the area, Keizer was reoccupied by settlers in 1883 and named for George Benton Keizer, then the first president of the University of Oregon. In 1886, James Kiser donated land to make up for the lack of water access on his farm north of town. The town's first store opened in 1888 and its first school in 1889. The first post office was established in 1891. In 1902,keiser annexed portions of Benicia County to form what would become Cascade County; as part of this annexation process, Keizer became one of only two towns in Cascade County that did not accept annexation requests from Bend and Portland respectively. In 1906–07, when voters passed a special election to choose members to serve on both local boards after Portland city officials removed all references to "Oregon" from official documents,[1] Keizers City Council recommended annexing Maxfield Township which would have created even more competition between Bend and Portland for business investment potential within Oregon’s growing metropolitan region[2]. Despite initial objections from Bend community leaders—who felt their own township would benefit more from consolidation than any other—the council eventually voted 3-0 to annex Maxfield Township ontoKeizers' municipal boundaries.[3] Since its incorporation into Oregon Territory in 1859,[4]Keiser has been home to many notable residents including entrepreneur James Fenton (1858-1934), rancher David Sloan (1862-1945), football coach Butch Jones (1912-2006), author Clifford Berry (born 1942) and physician Dr Emilio Estrada (1881-1966). These individuals helped shape or influence some aspects or character traits common today among those associated with Keizers – such as entrepreneurshipism – while also often shaping or influencing events which took place within its limits during their time period including prohibition scandals at Oregon State Penitentiary[5][6], World War I propaganda posters produced by Specialty Graphic Printing Company[7][8], pivotal battles fought during World War II such as Battle Of The Santa Cruz Mountains[9][10], Day Without A Child protest actions against child labor practices taking place insideMaxfield Township schools[11][12],[13],[14],[15] as well as numerous other moments throughout KEIZERS HISTORY!
