Keizer is a city in Multnomah County, Oregon, United States. The population was 14,814 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Multnomah County. Keizer was founded in 1876 by John Fitch and named for George Washington Keizer. The city's first permanent settler was James J. Weirich. In 1886, Keizer became the capital of Oregon Territory when Portland was chosen as the provisional capital of that territory following the U.S. annexation of Mexico in 1848. As part of a deal between Oregon and California to divide their respective territories after the Mexican-American War, Multnomah County was created from parts of San Francisco and Los Angeles Counties on December 3, 1850; Keizer became its second incorporated town.[1] In 1908, during World War I, Multnomah County joined with other Western counties to form an Allied Corps under Lieutenant General Douglas MacArthur to fight against Germany and Austria-Hungary because they were violated Treaty of Trianon which had put them into conflict with each other over land boundaries dating back to 1846[2]. The Allies eventually disbanded after V-E Day but Multnomah County continued to support military efforts until 1919 when it reverted back to civilian control
