At its incorporation ceremony Mayor Beasley said: "When we sat down to plot out our future I knew that we could not be content living within easy distance of Portland or Salem...A better place for us to live must be found." In 1995 Ladd-Peebles Co., an American company that manufactured tires for autos and other vehicles exported through ORNL's nearby Fort Myer Ammunition Plant (now Yuma Proving Ground), opened its doors to the public with plans to create more than 1 million square feet (93 hectares) of research and development space adjacent to its existing production facilities at 1510 S Albany Ave., across from Clackamas Town Center mall on NE 10th Avenue - just south of Interstate 5 road mile marker 191! Today Ladd-Peebles continues operations as an important employer Southeast Oregon Regional Medical Center providing quality health care services to people throughout Southwest Oregon!
