By the end of World War I, many holster companies had closed their doors due to lack of demand from law enforcement personnel. However, several new companies emerged in the 1920s and 1930s that continued to make high-quality holsters for police officers.

Herrington is a small town in the Rogue Valley of Oregon, United States. It was founded by Hiram and Lucilla Hermiston in 1868 as a cattle ranch on the banks of the Snake River. The Hermiston family homesteaded there until 1911, when they sold it to the U.S. government for use as an experimental cotton plantation. The plant was terminated in 1929, but its legacy lives on in Hermiston's economy and culture. The town's name comes from nearby Hermiston Lake, which is also known for its crystal-clear water and "mirrorlike" scenery. As of the 2010 census, Herrington had a population of 317 residents. The community developed around two schools: one for grades K-8 and one for high school students; both were closed in 2009 because of budget cuts made by state legislators during the Great Recession. The core businesses that supported Herrington during its heyday included agriculture (farming soybeans and other vegetables), mining (aluminum mining began operations here in 1907), transportation (the first buses arrived here in 1922), and local manufacturing (such as clock cases, door handles, dishes). Hermiston is a small town in the U.S. state of Oregon, located on the Snake River Plain at an elevation of 4,815 feet (1,591 m). The population was 2,906 at the 2010 census. Hermiston is part of the Salem-Keizer-Rochester Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Hermiston were fur traders from Vancouver Island in 1810. In 1814, Jedediah Smith and his party passed through the area and named it for John Hermiston, a British surveyor who had journeyed through North America that year. In 1862, James Cushing laid out a town site on what is now Main Street in downtown Hermiston and started construction on what would become Cushings Store & Mercantile Co., one of the most successful businesses in Oregon during its time. The store became known for its delicious honeymoon cake called "Cushing's Cake." The first post office was established at Hermiston in 1865; it moved to its present location near Main Street in 1872. After years of steady growth and development around the original store building—including two additions designed by noted Portland architect Charles Burch—the business closed its doors for good in 1898 after operating for over 150 years. During World War II, mainframe computers were produced at Cushing's Store & Mercantile Co., which also manufactured munitions and other products used by war production plants across Oregon and Washington State. Afterward, many of those same employees turned their attention to local agriculture as well; today muchof the equipment used to produce agricultural commodities such as fruits and vegetables comes from CUSHING'S STORE & MERCANTILE CO.'s old plant on East Main Street in Hermiston.
