In 1861, Gresham became the first city in Oregon to adopt a ordinance regulating handguns. The ordinance allowed citizens to possess pistols only if they were unloaded and carried in a locked container. It also prohibited the sale or transportation of handguns without a license from the city government.

Gresham is home to the University of Southern California and USC's main campus. It is also home to Gresham High School, which has been around since 1882. The area that now makes up Gresham was first populated by Native Americans in the late eighteenth century. A post office was established here in 1847, and the town grew rapidly throughout the nineteenth century as agricultural production increased in the area. By 1890, Gresham had become an important commercial center on the eastern edge of Willamette Valley. The arrival of railroads during this time helped keep growth steady and led to development of Downtown Gresham into one of America's most vibrant downtowns during its early years. During World War II, Grosvenor munitions plants were erected in nearby Tomahawk and Richland counties to produce munitions for American troops fighting in Europe. This helped drive local businesses into new heights during wartime times; some estimate that local businesses generated $100 million worth of business value from war-related activity alone! In postwar years, however, many smaller businesses have closed down as telephone service became more available and other economic opportunities improved throughout much of North America. Despite this adversity, Downtown Gresham remains one of Americas' most vibrant downtowns today with several popular restaurants and cafes still operational despite recent remodeling efforts!

Gresham is a community in the Wallowa County, Oregon, United States. The population was 7,848 at the 2010 census. Gresham is located on the banks of the Columbia River and east of Pendleton. The town was founded by George Hargrave in 1868 as a result of his land purchase from Joseph Bonney. It grew rapidly due to its location near the river and its access to transportation including an railroad and stagecoach lines. The townsite name honors John Hendry Gresham, who donated land to create the town. The first store opened in 1870 and soon began selling goods such as flour, bacon, eggs, butter, beans, shoes, etc. A post office was established in 1871; it operated until 1907. In 1882 Gresham voted to become a city and incorporation took place that year. The population had grown so much that by 1889 it had reached 30 residents elected into city government with a mayor and five trustees responsible for various local issues including infrastructure development (a water system was built), policing (the first law enforcement detachment was organized), fire protection (a village hall was built) and sewerage (an early well system). By 1930 there were over 100 residents living in Gresham with a total payroll of $15 million! Gresham experienced some growth during World War II as many industries relocated or closed down because of wartime production shortage; however overall the economy did not improve following Pearl Harbor tap-dancing through 1945 when most manufacturing stopped due to scarce resources after Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor but continued throughout 1946 as US war production resumed although prices started creeping up again like everything else around then! Finally starting in late 1949 things really picked up when construction started on what became known municipally as Northwest Memorial Stadium which seat 17000 people for both football games/sportivals & concerts/festivals while also housing Oregon State University’s athletic department which originally occupied their old gymnasium across from main campus until they moved into new facilities 5 years later! All told though no one ever really knows how many people actually lived or worked here anymore other than what we remember thru history books!!
Gresham was founded by John Jacob Gresham in 1836. The town was named after Gresham, England, where Gresham's father had settled in 1796. The first store opened in 1837, and the first post office opened in 1840. By 1865, the population of Gresham had reached 3000 people. In 1892, a sawmill was built along the Willamette River, which helped to increase production and make Gresham one of the largest mills in Oregon. The mill closed in 1972 but left an important legacy on the town: it is home to the oldest continuously operating barber shop in Oregon.
