Gresham, Oregon is a small town located in Multnomah County, Oregon, United States. The population was 1,321 at the 2010 census. Gresham was founded by Ammon Bundy and his father Ollie on November 3, 1860 as a ranch and trading post called Bundy Ranch. It became a town on December 15, 1881 when it incorporated as a city. Gresham is part of the Portland metropolitan area. In early 1860s, Ammon Bundy and his father Ollie started to journey from US territory in what is now Nevada to purchase land near present-day Gresham for $500. They named their new ranch Bundy Ranch after their friend Anson Bundy's father who had bought them some land in 1849 when they were both young men living in Utah Territory. In 1865, they sold the ranch to John Cowlitz and moved back east to start anew with their son Donny (born October 26th 1865). The first store in Gresham opened its doors on December 15, 1881 when A.J & W Horsfall opened up an general store next door to the local hotel which later became known as the Pioneer Hotel. A year later Mike Shea founded the Citizens Gas Light Company which still exists today as an energy company under the name Pacific Northwest Energy Services LP (PNETS). The original school building that stands today on Southeast 5th Avenue was built in 1889–90 by Mrs Julia Childs from her home on Hawthorne Street across from Multnomah County Courthouse. Mrs Childs' five daughters also taught school here until 1978 whenPortland State University purchased Hazelnut Hall for use as adjunct faculty teaching buildings and classrooms; since then Hazelnut Hall has been used mainly for storage purposes! On January 1st 1897 City Council voted unanimously to annex adjacent unincorporated parts of neighboring Portland so that all residents of those areas could join forces in order “to secure efficient police protection” against crime within our community boundaries[1]. On February 10th 1907 another vote passed by unanimous decision allowing grocery stores and other businesses located outside of our limits to open without prior approval from City Council[2]. On July 6th 1912 citizens of Gresham organized themselves into committees formulating plans for developing what would become downtown Gresham including beautifying Main Street between Southwest Yamhill Street and Broadway Avenue while also creating more public parks; these proposals were turned down because no one wanted commercial development along Main Street which ran through downtown Gresham! Civic spirit prevailed over business interests however and within two years Downtown GresHAM had been re-named "The Strip" after getting permission from city hall for ii any signage or names associated with retail services - this included but wasn't limited to 'GRESHAM strip mall'. By 1944 there were over 20 stores lining Main Street between Yamhill St & Broadway Ave giving it its present day shopping center appearance! In 1949 entrepreneur Lloyd Midgett leased ORDinance Building at SW 9TH Ave & Starkweather Rd., becoming one of first business owners inside what would be eventually known as The Strip mall complex housing many different types restaurants/bars/cafés/shops etc.; he operated his own restaurant inside until he retired around 1998.[3] Throughout much of the 1970s thru 1990s downtown redevelopment potential developed primarily due largely to PNEF's investment dollars into improving transportation infrastructure along I-5 corridor connecting Oregon coast cities via Willamette Valley; this led ultimately to redevelopment along NE Sandy Blvd leading up NW Market St thence outSW Harrison St towards Foster Center District [4], finally culminating with MAX Train arrival at SE Division Blk Terminal during late night hours resulting in considerable retail growth throughout Pioneer Square District!!!
