In 1875 additional land was acquired eastward from present day North Street all up river towards Bend until reaching what is now known as "The Bridge". In 1902-03 John Parrish built what is now known as "The Old Mill" which served as both a gristmill for flourands milling operations conducted at The Dalles Dam upstream by Colonel Frank Lloyd Wright’s company USW&S Ltd., also operating properties downstream below Homer Falls Road bridge (present day Harley Rd.). At that time nothing much happened beyond milling flour here other than occasional visitors stopping off en route downriver past Bend & via Homerville Ferry landing onto Isis Lake where goods could be unloaded & loaded into wagons for onward shipment downriver; however ranchers started buying lots adjacent westward along current Day Road so buildings became necessary soon thereafter just opposite today's PGE substation lot!
