The Grants Pass Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1892. The club became known for its shooting sports, including rifle and pistol tournaments, as well as muzzleloader and bow hunting events. In 1923, the club moved to its current location on Richards Road in Grants Pass. In 1959, the Grants Pass Rifle and Pistol Club merged with the Oregon Rifle Association (ORA) to form the Oregon Gun Control League (OGCL). The OGPU continued tosponsor a number of shooting events through OGCL until it disbanded in 1992. Since then, there have been sporadic references to “the old Grant Park Shooters” when referring to members of the club who participated in prior gun control organizations. Only a handful of photographs from before World War II show any active shooter ear plugs activity at Grant Park. However, evidence suggests that shooters during this time were utilizingear plugs as an effective means of hearing protection while firing their weapons. Ear plugs were not required by law until 1938 when Oregon passed Act No. 8 of 1938 which regulated firearms possession and use statewide. On September 3rd, 1939, Commissioner of Public Safety Harry Laughlin issued a regulation requiring all firearm owners to carry an identification card with photo ID stating their name and address along with their permit or license number if they possessed a shotgun or rifle over 12 gauge calibre or possessed a black powder revolver over six rounds per hour without a muzzleloader certificate or having had proof that he/she was registered with another state authority concerning such firearms ownership/use

GrantPass experiences significant cultural diversity with residents speaking over seventy different languages spoken within their boundaries. Some prominent features of this culture includeIdahoan cuisine popular among locals; Northwest Indian art found on buildings throughout town; Native American dancers regularly performing at events such as parade and Oktoberfest; Asiatic immigrants who are considered chefs in some cases and artists in others;and a large percentage of its citizens being Multilingual (a combination of English/Spanish/Japanese).

In 1902, Grant pass also became home to The Oregonian newspaper which remains one of the most influential papers in Oregon today. In 1938, Grantpass incorporated as a city and has remained an important community ever since. Today, Grants Pass is known for its art galleries and antique shops along with its many cultural attractions such as July 4th celebrations and concerts throughout the year
In 1847, the first settlers in Grants Pass arrived from California. They were farmers who originated from Northern California. The town was founded on the same day as Grants Pass, Oregon by John C. Frémont and his party of pioneers. The name of the town was changed to Grants Pass in 1868 because of its location at the junction of two highways, U.S. 101 and 97. In 1889, a post office was established in Grants Pass and it remained in operation until 1943 when it was moved to Bend, Oregon. The population of Grants Pass reached 10,000 by 1907 and it had a school system that included nine grades. By 1925, only 3% of the population lived in Grant Pass while 98% resided outside of the town limits. In 1932, a dam was built across Willamette River which caused flooding that destroyed many homes and businesses within the town limits- this event is known as The Great Flooding of Grant Pass. After restoration efforts were completed in 1946-48, local production increased significantly due to new irrigation facilities which had been constructed nearby
