In the early 1900s, Grants Pass was a small town in Oregon. It was known for its fruit industry and wineries. In 1907, the city of Grants Pass developed a municipal water system. The first water main was installed in 1911. The city of Grants Pass also developed a civic stadium in 1912 which served as the home field for the local baseball and soccer teams. In 1916, the city built a secondary school and athletic complex called Pacific High School which remains in use to this day. In 1922, the United States Congress passed an act that granted land to Grant Park which became one of the most popular tourist destinations in Oregon.
