Gladstone, Oregon is a small town in the Wasatch Front region of eastern Utah. The population was 948 at the 2010 census. It is an agricultural community, with a variety of crops and livestock. Gladstone, Oregon is home to the oldest gun shop in the state of Oregon. The store was founded in 1892 by John W. Gladstone and his wife, Lelia. It is still in business today and sells a wide variety of firearms including shotguns, handguns, rifles and pistols.
Oregon was founded in 1859 by George Washington Bidwell and his brother, David Bidwell. The area now known as Oregon was discovered by Spanish explorers in the early 1600s and it was not until 1859 that a group of American traders and entrepreneurs decided to explore the land. At first they only explored the coastline but later they began to prospect for gold. They found some gold deposits but also found a great deal of salt water. In 1871, John C. Frémont discovered an even bigger gold deposit on the Columbia River and this led to the discovery of what would become Gladstone, Oregon. The town was named after Sir John Atherton Gladstone who had led British efforts to find gold in California. After he arrived in Portland, he sent men out into the surrounding hills to prospect for ore. By 1830, there were over 60 people living in Gladstone with about 120 soldiers garrisoned at Fort Vancouver. However, when Fort Vancouver burned down in 1831, most of the inhabitants left for good except for 10 soldiers who remained behind to guard against Indian raids. This small detachment became known as the "Gladstonians" because they were always on hand to help defend against possible Indian attacks. The first settler in what is now Gladstone was Hennepin County resident James Dibbley who arrived around 1840 from Canada with his family setting up a homestead on Rondon Creek near present-day Coos Bayou inside present day Walla Walla County. Over time more settlers came and many built permanent homes along Rondon Creek including: Jno Purdy (1841), Wm Suddy (1843), Abel Addison (1845), Amos Paddock (1847), Stephen Stevenson (1849), Ebenezer Winthrop (1850-51). Eventually all those families joined forces and formed what is know today asthe "Gladstonian Mining Company". It seems that most of these early settlers were very determined individuals who saw their opportunity to start something new during difficult times when economic conditions were tough and there wasn’t much else going on outside their respective towns or counties! In 1850 Josephine Whitman moved from Aberdeen, Scotland with her parents + siblings Ahasuerus Gage & Margaret Macdonald into central Idaho Territory where she met Brigham Young while servingranch duty east of Boise City (). When Brigham Young heard about rooming houses being set up by young Latter Day Saints women near Salt Lake City () he suggested they try out living close together so they could get started practicing Mormonism (). Josephine's sisters eventually married local LDS men which explains why no record exists showing them ever living at 127 E Main Street (), although that might have been changed since then! gladstone or gladstonia may be derived from gladiolus meaning “flower that sweetens” or “dewdrop” depending upon context . . . either way this little town got its name from one of America’s earliest pioneer families!

Gladstone was founded in 1847 by John Gladstone and his wife, Susannah. The town was named after the British Prime Minister, William Gladstone. The Gladstones were pioneers of the Oregon Trail. They traveled from Utah to the Columbia River in early 1846, and soon opened a store in what is now Gladstone. The town grew quickly and soon had a school, jail, post office, doctorate clinic, church and several stores. In 1861, Gladstone became an incorporated town under the name of "Oregon City." It grew even more rapidly during World War I when many businesses closed due to wartime rationing. By 1924, Oregon City had over 100 residents and 11 businesses. Following World War II, Oregon City experienced steady growth until the early 1970s when it began to experience declines in population due to increased development nearby. In 1975, Oregon City was merged with neighboring Hubbell into one municipality known as Hubbell-Oregon City. Today there are only a few remaining residential properties left intown while most of the commercial buildings have been demolished or replaced by new structures opticlgy Walmart and KFC

It experienced rapid growth during the late 1800s and early 1900s, reaching its peak in 1914 with a population of 2,500 people. However, the city's fortunes began to decline after World War I, when heavy industry moved out of Gladstone and other nearby towns. The city's economy slowly recovered through the 1930s and 1940s, but declined again during the 1960s and 1970s due to suburbanization. Today, Gladstone is a small rural community with only a few hundred residents.
