Gladstone, Oregon is a small town in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is located east of Eugene and west of Salem. Gladstone is part of Clackamas County. The community was founded in 1875 by George W. Gladstone and his wife Anna Maria Smith as a farming village on the banks of the Columbia River. They named it after John A. Gladstone, an early settler in what is now Portland, who helped found the city in 1851. The first post office was established in 1880 and served area until 1907 when it moved to nearby Beaverton. In 1905, George W.'s son-in-law Ozzie Davenport organized a group of farmers to purchase land near Gladstone for farmstead development and named the community "Davenport." The community grew rapidly during World War II with military personnel and their families streaming into the area to help with wartime production shortages. In 1948, Davenport donated additional land to form present day Gladston Village which still functions as its primary business districts today In 1961, Aurora Glen Elementary School opened its doors to students in grades PK-5; that same year saw also our first soccer team join handball teams throughout schoolsports competitions! By 2001 (the turn of century), most buildings within nowdays Gladston Village had been built or were being renovated including new churches/synagogues/schools (St Benedict's Episcopal Church & Holy Rosary Catholic School), new water systems (new Wellspring Community Utilities District system), comprehensive resurfacing of streetscape & sidewalks then 2 years later we opened our newest addition - Our very own Parkside Park which offers plenty of room for activities like community skating/fishing/biking etc., as well as excellent views from many buildings including Our Lady Of Lourdes Parish Chapel situated atop one hill overlooking downtown gladston! Today we continue enjoy great community spirit through monthly events such as holiday concerts at Our Lady Of Lourdes Parish Chapel held every other month during winter months or summer family fun days outdoors at Parkside Park!

John Gladstone had been a doctor in Ontario before he came to Oregon to help start a new life. He was also involved with fur trading and mining operations in British Columbia. His wife, Eliza, was born in Canada and grew up there. She immigrated to America when she was eighteen years old and married John Gladstone when she was twenty-four years old. They moved to Oregon together in 1875. Gladstone early on played an important role within the community as it developed around them. It became known as a stop on the stagecoach route between Portland and Seattle during its early years; passengers would often stop here for refreshments while they traveled along that route. In addition, it served as a market for items grown or raised around nearby farms such as hay, tomatoes, apples, potatoes, wheat berries, cranberries—and later dairy products such as cheese and cream puffs." The town's growth continued after World War II when it became an important transportation hub for travelers travelling between Portland and Seattle via Interstate 5 (then called Puget Sound Boulevard). Additionally, thanks to its location close to both the Snake River region which produced salmon eggs (the eggs being used by fishermen) as well as access to major highways like I-5 (and later I-405), Gladstone experienced rapid growth during this time period."
