Forest Grove, Oregon is a town in Grays Harbor County, Oregon, United States. The population was 9,822 at the 2010 census. Forest Grove is part of the Portland metropolitan area. It is located on the Willamette River and has a humid subtropical climate with significant amounts of annual rainfall. The first white people to visit what is now Forest Grove were Methodist missionaries who passed through the area in 1847. In 1861, the first post office was established in Forest Grove after General George Sibley connected it to Salem via stagecoach from Astoria, Oregon. By 1870 there were over 100 residents living in Forest Grove when it incorporated as a town limits village. The original name for Forest Grove may have been "Saddleback". In 1892 timberline encroached on what would become Forest Groove so a new community named "Grove" was developed to take advantage of that land's resources including water supply and more fertile soil than what had been available in the surrounding hillsides. When news spread of this potential boomtown developments started flowing into Forest Groove- many made their way downriver to stake their claim- deeds were sold quickly and before long most of the original settlers had left for greener pastures or moved out of state altogether because they could not find farmland hereabouts that could support them economically). When World War II began most everyone who didn't evacuate went into hiding or hid inside homes until things calmed down- by then it was too late most everyone either died from food shortages or did not make it back due to strategic bombing raids which devastated much of Northwest America during that war). Today Forest Groove features an active downtown core filled with businesses and cultural attractions like The Barnes Theater & Café, Court House amphitheater & gardens, Orpheum Theatre & Gilded Cage Ballroom etc., while also boasting high quality pre-war housing options like Ansonia Residence #4 (the only surviving two story frame house built prior to 1900), Woodland Hills Estates (#2) etc.. There are also numerous small businesses scattered throughout both central business district and outer neighborhoods such as Indian Head Rd./Oregon Ave., Bush Rd./Highway 97W/Upper Klackataw Creek Rd., Seward St./Oregon Ave.. In recent years development has begun again along Willamette River waterfront areas such as Northpointe Dr./Hwy 97W/Cedar Rapids Way., Federal Way/Grayson Way etc.; these latter areas are becoming increasingly popular for commercial redevelopment including apartments, condos, offices and even a few thousand square feet of landed waterfront property suitable for retail development should enough investors materialize willing and able to commit capital thereto!

Forest Grove was founded in 1853 by George Catlin as a small community of fifteen people. The town grew rapidly, and by 1860 it had a population of over one hundred people. By 1865, Forest Grove had become the largest town in Oregon. The growth of the town led to increased deforestation, and in 1868 the United States government organized a task force to address this issue. The task force recommended that forest owners be allowed to keep their trees for lumber, and the town began to grow even more based on this policy change. In 1902, Forest Grove became part of the city of Portland. However, despite its proximity toPortland, Forest Grove continued to thrive until the early 1920s when heavy logging ended and farming replaced forestry as the primary source of income. In 1932, Portland annexed Forest Grove into its city limits. By then, however, Forest Grove had lost much of its population due to economic reasons alone and has never regained its previous level of popularity. Today, there is only a small remnant of forest left within City limits
Forest Grove is a city in Oregon, United States. It was founded on December 8, 1851 by Captain James K. Arthur and his wife Emmeline Harned. The city grew rapidly after it was made a part of the Portland Territory in 1853. In 1871, Forest Grove became the first town in Oregon to be built on the new land granted by U.S. President Abraham Lincoln to the people of Oregon as part of his Pacific Northwest Manifesto.
