Dallas, Oregon is a small town located in the Western United States. The population was 3,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Clackamas County, Oregon Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community started as a white settlement on the banks of the Willamette River in 1853. The first store opened in 1854 and two years later, a post office was established. By 1860, Dallas had six stores and one school. In 1865, Dallas became an incorporated town with a population of 143 people. During World War II, Dallas helped provide security for Bandon Air Force Base in neighboring Clackamas County. After the war ended in 1945, Dallas grew quickly and developed into an agricultural center with several industrial businesses including Boeing and Wacoal Paper Co.. In 1990, Dallas annexed portions ofvante Valley to its south and east sides. As a result of this annexation, it lost its role as an agricultural center but regained some importance as an bedroom community for Portland's downtown district during the late 1990s and 2000s recession when many jobs moved to Portland or other nearby cities during that period of economic downturns around America. Today there are only three buildings remaining from when Dallas was founded: the original schoolhouse which still stands on Main Street; a Baptist church built in 1907 on West Main Street; and what is now known as "The Gables" apartments complex built in 1949 on North Fourth Avenue near Interstate 5th Avenue Southbound lanes were closed down by city officials due to concerns about building codes not being met since those days; however heavy usage has allowed most structures within city limits to remain standing despite having significant decay over time

Dallas, Oregon was first settled in 1847 by John S. Fremont and his family. The town was named after Dallas, Texas, which at the time was part of Mexico. The first post office in the community was established in 1852. By 1860, there were only a few families living in Dallas when it became an incorporated town. In 1916, Dallas had a population of fifty-six people and two schools. On July 14, 1924, the name of the community changed to reflect its growing rail industry: "Daly City." The city's first mayor was Halsey Kneeland and its first police officer Wm C. Maynard. In 1978, Daly City made history when it became the last city to be merged with neighboring Portland into a new metropolitan area called Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro (PVH). Today, Dallas is known for its vibrant music scene and active downtown district; as well as its role in helping to revive the Oregon economy following the 2007–2009 recession. With over seventy thousand residents within limits of both cities – making it one of Oregon's most populous communities –Dallas has become one of central Oregon's largest economic hubs.
Dallas, Oregon was founded in 1847 by Captain John S. Austin as a trading post on the Snake River. The post was abandoned in 1853 and renamed Fort Worth. In 1881, Dallas became an incorporated town when the city of Portland was established.
