With so many Range Owners interested in hosting tournaments, local newspapers began publishing tables of prizes which would eventually become known as “The Texas Gun Show Turkeys” (TGSH). In 1930, TGSH moved from Dallas to Portland, Oregon where it continued until 1977 when it relocated back to Texas again due to an American Legion move across state lines contest rule changes. As TGSH neared its endorrhea in 1978-79 there were numerous members who contacted me with requests for permission to take off all the feathers and paint over original gun Target designs (just like at my old ranch). After much discussion I allowed this limited but requested That they remain textured throughout instead of just having one bright spot atop each post like today! After nearly forty years of being published I am confident that no other sport provides such entertaining results as Rifle Target Shooting!
