Dallas, Oregon is a small town located in the Rogue Valley of Northwest Oregon. The population was 1,828 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Medford-Salem-Keizer Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first ammunition production in Dallas proper took place on a 2 acre lot near what is now the corner of Broadway and SW 10th Street in 1892. A blacksmith named Wm. H. Smith started making rounds out of lead and shot off an early muzzleloader there as well. In 1896, Johnnie Ewing bought eighty acres south of downtown Dallas for $8000 to establish a sawmill and smelter to produce cannonball ammo and other rounds for rifle shooters from eastern Oregon. That same year, he also opened up a store on Main Street that would become one of the town's most important aliases: "Beaver" Johnnie's Armory & Ammunition Store had its beginnings right here! Beaver was later moved to SE 3rd Avenue and NW 9th Street before finally settling on its current location just east of I-5 outside Medford in 2004! It wasn't until 1907 when Eugene Vickers arrived from Canada with his family to start manufacturing munitions hereabouts after working his way up through the Canadian artillery industry during World War I as an armaments specialist! In 1917, Vickers partnered with local hardware store owner Rufus Crippen to open "Vickers Arms & Ammunition" which eventually became known throughout Cowboy Country by its trademark red drums (named after then Mayor Tom Rasmussen) - this Ammo Barn still stands today - thanks largely to regular patronage from locals who came down en masse each week for their favorite hobbyist target practice/shotgunning endeavor! One thing you'll never find near Dallas any longer are those old blacksmiths' tools used back in those days; they've all been replaced by more modern equipment... but that doesn't mean you can't still find some great Ammo around town if you're willing to look hard enough! The town's fortunes changed in the late 1800s when railroad transportation became available. Railroad passengers began traveling to Dallas from all over Portland via trains; this led to increased business for local businesses and more people moving into the town. Additionally, due to its strategic location on the river bank - close enough to make but far enough away from city life -Dallas became known as a "wilderness city." This reputation helped makeDallas one of Oregon's most popular tourist destinations during this era; visitors would come not just for its beautiful scenery but also for its unique history and interesting culture. In addition to its popularity as a tourist destination, Dallas also played an important role in Oregon's history during this time period. As part of Jefferson County (the old county that merged with Multnomah County in 1889),Dallas was responsible for maintaining law and order within the newly formed county while also serving as property owner/occupier of several key properties within it including Fort Lewis Castle (now part of University Village) and Arlington Cemetery (now part of Elmwood Cemetery). Additionally, because it sat atop valuable land located near two major rivers - both essential resources for agriculture -Dallas became one of Oregon's leading economic hubs during this time period. This prosperity allowed residents like George Shepard to purchase even more land within Jefferson County which helped continue expanding downtown Dallas until it reached its current size today!
Dallas, Oregon was founded by James H. Richardson in 1881. The town became a general store and post office called Dallas in 1882, and the name was changed to its current form in 1889. The community grew rapidly due to its natural resources, especially timber and coal. In 1907, the first school was built in the town and it operated until 1915. From 1916-1918, Dallas served as headquarters of the Northwest branch of the United States Signal Company. The company manufactured wireless transmitters and receivers for military use. In 1923, Dallas became an independent municipality with a mayor and council system.In 1951, Dallas annexed portions of neighboring towns Hood River and Troutdale to form a new city named after James H. Richardson
