Dallas, Oregon is a town in Polk County, Oregon, United States. The population as of the 2010 census was 576. The town was named after Dallas, Texas. The first settlers in the area were farmers who came to the area in the early 1800s. They developed a small business district and built homes around their churches. By 1875, most of the farmers had left for other parts of Oregon and Texas. A new group of settlers arrived in 1887 and named themselves Dallas Township because they thought it would be more likely to get good soil if they named their settlement after a major city in that region. In 1912, Dallas Township was dissolved into Polk County when it was annexed by Multnomah County. The first post office at Dallas opened on November 30, 1888. It served portions of what is now Polk and Multnomah counties until 1909 when it moved to Portland due to overcrowding at its original location. The first store opened in 1911 and eventually became known as the "Dallas Mercantile". On December 8, 1916, voters approved annexation by Portland of all but one block of what is now downtown Dallas - making itPortland's second-largest suburb after Beaverton (which incorporated in 1987). In 1927-28 there was a fire which destroyed much of downtown Portland but did not damageDallas; this made Dallas an important commercial center for Portland during the 1930s through 1940s despite being relatively isolated from most other parts of town although some businesses did move away during that time period due to technology advances such as television production facilities established eastward withinPortland limits near 9th Avenue NE & I-5). In 1950s-60s many people commute into Portland via Interstate 5 or Highway 395 while others commute out via smaller roads connecting central Phoenix with eastern Oregon heavy industry areas including Brookings and Eagle Rock outside Multnomah County; however during later part of decade those commuting rates have decreased significantly creating an even larger urban sprawl within city limits which has caused residents overall dissatisfaction with current form/ function/design communitysome refer to this condition as 'Dallascorte'. Although public opinion seems divided on whether or not annexation should continue ( considering high levels of residential sprawl), recent economic development has led some residents back home while others advocate for keeping intact core functions/characteristics which make Dallas unique among large suburban cities

From its early days as a small frontier town to its current day location in the middle of Oregon, Dallas has gone through many changes over the years. Some of the earliest memories of Dallas are associated with its role as a transportation stop on the Oregon Trail. The town quickly grew throughout those years and was known for its fairs and businesses related to agriculture. A big part of what made Dallas so successful during these early days was its location. The community was located on high ground near present-day Medford, making it easy for pioneers to trade goods and experience new cultures. This stability also allowed for growth in other areas surrounding Dallas, such as Medford and Bendigo. Eventually, however, pollution from nearby mills caused economic troubles for the community and forced it to seek new solutions. One solution was to build a water tower in downtown which served as an important commercial center until World War II when oil production began bringing more traffic downtown than ever before. This increased demand also caused problems for Dallas because much of their infrastructure had been built without regard for future use or replacement capacity – leading to some physical challenges over time such as streetcars running into buildings or trucks crashing into pedestrians at intersections
